The UK scammer

If you can't access the link on Patreon, here's the direct link: https://youtu.be/hx4fvTGCj84

If you show your relatives any of my videos, this is the one to show. It's possibly the most dangerous scam that there is: it will wipe out your entire bank account if you fall for it.

This is a Patron-only version of the video, so please don't share it.

I've had to hold back for over a year before I posted this video because the UK police had to investigate the woman featured here. They eventually concluded that she was easily influenced, naïve and vulnerable enough to attempt to help scammers. She even allowed her bank account to be used as part of the scam.

I have my own views on her and I'd be interested to hear your opinions on her.

I'll be adding a few more videos about this scammer shortly, so if you're a Silver+ Patron, keep your eye out for more videos in the next few days.

The UK scammer

Comments

Fraud all around, she's not innocent at all, maybe a useful idiot but she's still involved in fraud.

I think she should have been arrested .. she can't be THAT naive!! She KNEW she was lying. She KNEW she was taking money from senior citizens. She KNEW these things. So to let her off because she is easily influenced and naive is ridiculous. She should serve time so her naivety is improved for goodness sake. I am so thankful to hear that the gentleman in your other video got his money back. ALL BECAUSE of OUR SUPER HERO .. Jim Browning. Thanks Jim. But that's MY opinion on her.

Marita Jeffrey

“You can read all about me on Google”… great! Why not claim to be Angela Merkel? After all, Google says she’s the German chancellor. That must mean that she is the German chancellor… What great way to verify one’s identity…

That did not occur to me. That would be a plausible explanation. It would explain why Jim is not saying any more perhaps.

Paulo

Jim, it’s unbelievable that the police said this woman is a possible victim. Can you please let all your fans/supporters know that you are safe and well and will continue your awesome work tracking and exposing these lowlife, bottom feeding scammers!!

It's legit. Been here a while x

Jim are you okay? I'm concerned after this video. Police say she's a victim. I hope they haven't got you in any trouble. People are saying they haven't heard anything in a while

Has anyone heard from Jim? Little worried he may have been scammed. Also, I hope this account is legit. I just joined a week ago.

KELLY

I see a lot of of comments about this lady but if the cops say she is a victim perhaps that means she was coerced into it, maybe she was scammed, figured it out and begged for her money and they took the opportunity to groom her as a scammer with a local sounding voice since everyone knows scammers are Indians by a large margin and people are losing trust to anyone with an Indian accent over the phone….anyone maybe consider that? A true to life Stockholm syndrome scammer

She doesn't look vulnerable to me. I'd like to rip her apart limb by limb. scum.

She is deliberately impersonating a law enforcement officer. How can she possibly be innocent?

The Art of the Reel

Thanks for everything Jim! In my opinion the woman has some sort of internal conflict. She is doing it for some reasons definitely. But when you drops the call with the indian scammers she sort of look desperate. If I have to put a guess, she might be doing it because she is in desperate need of money, that the indian scammers promised her. It is a wild guess though

I would be really interested to see how the police came to that conclusion - i personally fail to see this woman as a victim, no matter how much i try it. I see her only as a scammer that got caught and now tries to rescue herself.

I feel sick to my tummy that a lady from the UK has done this to a lady taking money from her.. she is concerned about the driving I'm sorry but this guys deserves to drive off a cliff. She is a scammer maybe she did it cause of lock down. But that's no excuse. She should of had to pay for what she did. She could never be trusted again who would want this lady to work for them I'm sorry but she is scammer

He uploaded one today and he’ll upload more as the days go.

Rose Tyler

Would the police have afforded her the same deference if she was a member of a minority? Just wondering, as this is not uncommon here in the US.

Zuhair Mahmoud

Maybe she dragged her doctor into it. Depending on her medical past, she could have used that to protect her from charges.?

KELLY

Probably blackmailing her after finding some dodgy pictures on her laptop.

Ontical

Just as your earlier video when the BBC aired a story and the India Police promptly closed one of the scam centers; I wonder if the BBC covered this story involving a UK citizen if it would cause enough "public outcry" that the UK police would take action. Thank you for what you do!

Here in the U.S. impersonating a police officer with intent to abuse authority is a felony that could land a person in prison for a long time. It blows me away that she was able to get away with this in the U.K.

I guess she gets a cut of whatever she steals. I never saw this part, so I don't know exactly what the deal was.

Jim Browning

Awesome!! Please keep up your great work!!

Just editing these at the moment (now that I can release them). The first will be up tonight.

Jim Browning

From what I saw and heard on the video this lady is not naïve. She is very aware and I believe she is clever enough to have Scammed the police. I cannot believe the Poliça not pursue this further. Jim, I am a five dollar Patreon member and for some reason I cannot locate any other videos that show this terrible person. Thank you for all your great work.

Hi Jim. Thank you for the video and I just want to say how very grateful we all are that you're out there in the world trying to help us all to be safe from the evil that is the scammer. We're all so grateful that you got your YouTube channel back up as you must know you were sorely missed. Bless you and thank you again for all you do. Be safe!

Debbie Brown

When you say that a certain level of patreon subscribers and above will see more videos about this woman on your patreon, do you mean in the future? I don't see any other videos and I'm on Gold.

Psychachu

It's pretty common with other criminal gangs that they target people with mental or physical disabilities to do dirty work for them. If I'm charitable, it may be the case here. Or this was the police fobbing Jim off.

Jon Connorton

I really don't think the police were willing to investigate her properly. Her immediate defence was I didn't know what I was doing....'I'm vuknerable'....but what the police should have been asking themselves is how she became involved with a gang of international criminals, why she was happy to pretend to be a high ranking police woman, even defending her scam and berating victims. The police need to take a long hard look at their part in this.

Bumble Bee

I don't understand how this started. What relationship does this brunette in the uk have with the scammers in India? Did the brunette get scammed and then the Indians said to her we'll give your money back if we can use you to scam other people there in the U.K.?

dannydaw59

There is a lot to unpack in just this one video. First off, I'm baffled why the police didn't think she was complicit. It's pretty clear from this video she knew she was deceiving people. Unless she was utterly delusional there's no way she thinks she's the head of the NCA. Second off, I notice a tendency of scammers to "prove" they're a notable person or part of such an organization by only proving these notable people or organizations exist. This is especially common in advance fee scams where the scammer will link some news article of some lucky person who won the lottery. Of course, all they did was show that the person exists and won the lottery, but it does nothing to prove that *they* are that person. Now, I would say that baffles me how it would work, but this is why scammers target the elderly. There's always that chances they have dementia or just simply don't understand that someone on the other side of the conversation is lying to them, and may have lacking in the faculties needed to actually ask the important question that'd unravel the scam: "Yes, but how do I know *you* are that person?" I mean, seriously, If I say I'm Bill Gates and I founded Microsoft, then tell you to Google Bill Gates... all I did was prove that Bill Gates is a person and he founded Microsoft. I didn't do anything to show that *I* am Bill Gates. Good on her victim for actually pointing out this flaw by saying of COURSE something like the NCA exists, just that she probably has nothing to do with it. I'd have pressed her harder, but she was already falling back on the old scammer classic: Threatening their victim when they show skepticism. I'm pretty sure Bill Gates has something like an OpenPGP identity among other things to prove to anyone online he's really Bill Gates, mind.

Yaro Kasear

This is really saddening, a sign of the times, of desperation in the UK that this low moral activity would be conducted. Looks clearly culpable for her actions in my opinion, part victim part scammer. Bloke at the end had her bang to rights.

This is so sobering ..

Robin H.

At the end of the video you mentioned that we would have more videos of this person in our feed if we were over $5. I'm well over that but I can't find any more videos.

Jeff Christofferson

This must have been incredibly frustrating for you. Sometimes the CPS squash these things, I’ve worked in the civil service for 30 years and I have heard a lot of muttering about them lately. If you want to apply pressure going forward, you could try approaching the agencies she impersonated? This sort of thing pisses them off royally and they have the pull with CPS and the cops to force them to act. I used to work for HMRC and I can tell you they wouldn’t take that lying down. I couldn’t detect any vulnerabilities about that woman, rather the opposite in fact, I could understand being intimidated by scammers, but she had some brass neck in shouting that guy down when he called her a scammer. I wasn’t sensing any intimidation at all- she had no problem whatsoever with what they were doing and didn’t demur in the slightest- that just doesn’t hang together at all. Anyway, don’t let it demotivate you, keep up the good work!

Lorna Mangan

The only thing that makes any sense is that she is being blackmailed in some major way by the scammers. If not, the UK police force is in a much poorer state than I could have ever imagined if they don't prosecute her. However, there is no excuse for her actions. She is about as vulnerable and naive as the average suicide bomber, and they are shot by the police given half a chance.

Syd

I belong to a social website specifically for seniors over 50 called Senior Forums (www.seniorforums.com). Members include seniors from the UK (and around the world). When you ask that we don't share a particular video, I don't, but it is a bit frustrating that I can only post in text the details of various scams, and who you are and what it is you do. I have, however, shared public videos you've posted to YouTube, and I encourage my Senior Forum friends to subscribe to your channel. The videos definitely get more attention and response than my (rather lengthy) text posts do. Still, I'll keep at it.

Alice Murray

You could be right about the mental health problem. It's the one part which I can't see or know about.

Jim Browning

I don't buy that she's a victim. I'm sorry but she's clearly an accomplice to the scammers and most likely weaseled her way out of the police interrogation. She would have stopped and ceased contact with the scammers after the Police had payed her a visit if she were a victim - and she didn't. The UK/American contacts I feel are a huge problem and need to be made an example of in terms of being served by the law within their respected countries. If law enforcement doesn't take action, more and more scammers from the other side of the world will keep recruiting locals for fraudulent activity.

rtamayo88

Another cracker video. It’s hard to see her as anything but another scammer (as I don’t know the full story). The thing is, we don’t have the same poverty as in India, which isn’t a justification but the uk scammers? So low

Sasha

👍

Once again thanks for great work and raising awareness. I am very proud to be one of your Patreons.

Krishna Ramaraju

Like others, I was outraged that she would be complicit in these schemes. I find it hard to believe that it's entirely naïveté. It's possible that she was scammed herself and in the process the scammers got information from her computer they could use to blackmail her. I don't think that's necessarily a good excuse as most blackmail material is shady to begin with, but it might explain her actions.

Release Dominatrix

I'm guessing she has an ongoing mental health problem, and was groomed to do this, because she felt important, part of a team, and clearly cared about the scammers. I'm not however convinced she's totally innocent, and should really have been prosecuted, and kept on the radar, so she isn't tempted to take it up again.

Bumble Bee

Lynne Owens should have her jailed immediately for impersonating her and being an agent of the NCA. Apple and Amazon could take the trash out in a heartbeat but unfortunately, they don't care : (

Paula Hernandez

I dont think she is a victim and what she does is terribly horrible. That said, factors that would have motivated her to do this horrible scams would be for example not feeling alone (feeling part of a group with an objective), having “colleague-friends” with whom to “chat over coffee” (like when she asks the indian dude to be careful while driving), feeling part of a “white collar” office organization, as opossed to a low paying job, and looking for approval of others when a scam goes well. How this all could have masked the fact that she was doing harm to innocent vulnerable people? The human mind has all sort of twisted mechanisms. OR she just likes the money and truly doesnt give a damn but can manipulate people to look aotherwise. Not a psicologist but its just stuff that comes to my mind watching the video.

I think I'm going to reach out to a few psychologists to get their opinion. I'd love to know what actually drove her to do this (apart from money).

Jim Browning

I agree whether she is a victim or not she didn’t have to continue with scamming others I think she enjoyed it and was doing it as a way of making her self self important

Mary Torrez-Watson

It seems like this woman really believes that she is Lynn Owens in the way that she keeps stating that she is the representative of the NCC

Mary Torrez-Watson

Whether she is a victim or not I still think she is a horrible person for continuing to scam her fellow citizens. She didn’t have to continue to do that but she did so willingly and that’s why I blame her for her actions

Mary Torrez-Watson

I wonder if a fund run by trusted people could be created to help compensate some of these victims. I suspect some would want to help.

Craig Browning

I think what might help is if the press were to report on the police not arresting this person, to get public outrage to shame them. It's outrageous to allow it. (Why doesn't this site allow paragraphs?) It's bad enough how Indian police don't put resources into prosecuting crimes harming foreigners, but for the UK police not to help is even worse. In fairness, Jim is right to say the 'whole story' needs to be understood. It would be good to get whatever else there is to the story. Even if she isn't criminally liable, her actions are harmful and need to be ended, and the scammers pursued.

Craig Browning

This woman is no victim! I don’t understand, if there were no legal repercussions, is she just… free to continue - even more confidently than before since the police deemed her not accountable for her actions?

Oana

Wait until you see the one where she attempts to do the same on a 96yo woman :(

Jim Browning

Great to have you back!

Thanks Stephanie, It still angers me even though this happened a year ago. I can't believe that she got away with this. The only good which might come out of this would be if a few people recognise the scam as a result of the video. Even so, I wish I was able to say that she spent a bit of time locked up for stealing money from pensioners.

Jim Browning

My blood's boiling after watching this. No way was this woman an innocent party. She did not seem naive or vulnerable to me and was competent enough to robustly argue her position with the male victim at the end without prompts from her "handlers". Truly naive and vulnerable people will crack under pressure, yet she was able to maintain her fake persona and threaten the victim further. If her acting skills were this good then it's possible she was convincingly able to protray vulnerability to the police. Amazing work Jim!!

Elaine

At some point, the governments need to start holding the people involved accountable. If they never prosecute and there are no consequences, the situation will only continue.

I really hope that you're going to have the UK police knocking on her door at some point in the near future. She isn't a victim. She's perpetuating fraud and misery.

How can this woman be a victim she knows damn well that this is a scam. The dumbest person in the world would know this is a scam. And this is the reason the scammers continue to scam because they know they are untouchable 🤷🏽‍♀️Thank you so much Jim for sharing this with us you are The Godfather of scambaiting ❤️‍🩹

Stephanie Humphries

Well, it does happen. I can see UK PCs used by scammers in India over weeks and months to make connections to banks and other money transfer services. How much the PC owners know is debatable.

Jim Browning

She is an adult, and she was TOLD how to SCAM people. So she wasn't "influenced, threatened, etc "......... This English woman KNOWS FULL WELL that she is FINANCIALLY RAPING this victim. She needs to go to prison, and have the MAXIMUM amount of years thrown at her

Leslie Brown

Absolutely she should be prosecuted. If the police / CPA cannot prosecute this type of activity carried out in the UK by a British citizen knowingly impersonating a very senior police officer to defraud other people in the UK, then they are no more effective than the the hopelessly corrupt Indian Police. Whether that person is naive or not is immaterial. They have committed a serious crime and should be held to account for it.

John Giddens

Impersonating a police woman is an offence in itself.

Jim Browning

I'm pretty sure there will be a public version next with the final segment trimmed.

The young woman may have been naive, easily influenced, etc., but I am not certain how she can plausibly claim to have been innocent of wrongdoing when she was knowingly impersonating a government official.

Alex Furst

@JimBrowning - Since this is a patreon only video, but you're encouraging us to share with friends, I'm confused.. where is the link to the version we're encouraged to share?

Steve Jones

She's as guilty as the ones in India. To say otherwise would be like excusing all the street level drug dealers by claiming they're "victims" of the kingpins. They should prosecute her HARD, and squeeze her for information about the main people in India, but at the very least, making an example of her by tossing her in jail would discourage her friends from joining her in the quick money scheme. Criminals get away with whatever they can, and to let her have no consequence would encourage her to tell her friends "Try it.. even if you get caught, they wont do anything, and the upside is a huge win in the meantime"...

Steve Jones

She is guilty as, no way she had no idea that she was a victim herself. Just how far does this go on in the U.K.? how many more satelite scammers are working in the U.K. for the indians?

Thank you for your efforts. The scamming never ends and there are so many victims. The internet was wonderful until scammers came along and ruined lives.

Incredible! Amazing investigating Jim! I’m sure there are many many hours of work that went into this short video. Kudos! You’re incredible.

maybe thats something else they coached her with, playing innocent

I’m astonished at the ridiculous approach of the UK police letting her off the hook so easily ! No matter what her compulsions, she’s aiding and abetting actively !

Jim, do you ever face scrutiny for 'hacking'? Im surprised plod didnt dismiss her and nick you

I suppose they may have something on her. Maybe she was scammed herself and if she didn't comply, bad things would happen.

Kevin Furlong

Agreed. Personally, it angers me that she did get away with this. She had a pen and paper and was ticking off all the lines she was going to use. She even allowed her bank account to be used. How does that not constitute being part of a scam?

Jim Browning

Great work once again Jim. To see and hear these people act so brazenly is always shocking, no matter how many of your videos I watch. That she was able to do what she did, and yet avoid prosecution, makes it all the worse.

Pat Fox

I have to say it’s difficult for me to believe that she doesn’t have an idea about what she is doing. I think the comments are possibly valid that she may be coerced into doing this but that still does not exonerate her from being a scammer. She may be a scammer doing this for reasons other than money but I think most likely not.

Phillip Porch III

This woman may not bet the brightest but she definitely knows she attempting to scam this victim and therefor she should be prosecuted.

Stephen Brown

This is exactly why I question why the police didn't do more. They seized her computer to investigate her, yet she still did not answer for what she did.

Jim Browning

I agree that she shouldn't have got away with this. You'll see in the other videos that she has no qualms about trying to steal money from a 96yo woman. I still find it incredible that she got away with this.

Jim Browning

By the looks of it, decision made by the police requires much more coverage than her act alone. Their action sends a very wrong message and sets up a dangerous precedence (play dumb enough and they will look the other way). Attempting to defraud senior citizens should require a mandatory jail sentence, considering how vulnerable victims are and how irreversible the consequences on their lives could be.

Good to see, Jimbo.

I don’t know how she can be called a scammer by someone and not realize she’s the actual scammer.

Joseph Brzezinski

Well done Jim. She may well have been a victim herself and gullible but the way she spoke to the man at the end of the video leads me to believe that she is as guilty as the scammers.

Seamus McGill

Absolutely amazing work! Well done!

They should throw the book at her end of the day she was helping scammers where she's a victim or not

Ellis Garbutt

Thank you for this video. You make a great point about how they are now using locals that can be bent to participate in scams on their neighbors and community. I look forward to the videos you have coming over the next few days.

Anthony Paolilli

What is the function of the NCA? Is it a police agency or a group of social workers?! If this was her first attempt she did very well. She was bound to improve with experience. They should have thrown the book at her.

Karen Ramsay

This part, I cannot understand. I provided much more than what you see here, but the conclusion was that she was vulnerable. I always though that ignorance was no excuse, but seemingly she got away with this. If I hadn't intervened, it's likely she would have facilitated over £100,000 going to scammers. :(

Jim Browning

Just wondering, police concluded she was naive and vulnerable, and didn't see any sign of criminal intent?

Glad I work so early (US PST) so I can see the wonderful work you do to start my day :)
