A Public Note to J.B. A couple of years ago I was in a coma. A few weeks being home recovering from a 26 (approximately) day hospital stay I got one of these calls. Let's put it in context... I was an avid gamer and game modder, I had a clue, but the three weeks in a coma hammered my cognitive abilities. That all started from an underlying physical challenge. The only reason I didn't get scammed out of a couple thousand dollars is I was mostly broke from my illness and my wife is a smart lady who had blocked my access to what was left. How does this relate you ask? I told my daughter that I was deathly afraid I was in trouble. She looked around and pointed me to one of your videos. I cried because at that very moment I started being able to think again. Your video connected a synaps or something. You do more than just the obvious my friend. You have helped me get me back. I don't event own a working computer anymore, but I do get to watch you on my phone, and you're still helping me. I may never get to game or stren again, but I do get to spend time here and I enjoy my time here. (I think one of the MOST annoying things about not having a computer is not having a keyboard! Gahhhhhh!! LOL) I apologize for the long post and it's rambling nature, I am really just trying to say thanks and I'm happy to help , even if it's only in a very miniscule way. Also! (Yeah, I don't shut up even if this takes forever) Thank you also to all of y'all here! I appreciate you!

My Mom received this AARP paper in the mail and I read her this article. I have since become a supporter. She receives scam calls on the phone quite often and has trouble identifying them as scams. She won’t change her phone number or stop answering, so this education was much needed. Thank you. Lately, she has been receiving calls that inform her she has won a cash sweepstakes. I don’t know the con, but she said they talk about collecting the taxes beforehand. Your work is admirable. I love listening to your recordings, especially when you make them sweat!

Yup - very keen to continue to work with Doug and co. Their publications seem very good indeed and the paper-based ones reach an audience, most of whom never look at YouTube. I'll definitely consider the short videos.

I think a partnership with AARP would be great.. they should sponsor you to make some video content targeted at their elderly, and likely less technically literate membership. I know I have tried to keep my parents aware of what is going on, and make sure they keep their guard up, but the long format videos we all enjoy would not keep the attention of a less technical person.. A series of short videos explaining in terms they could understand would be a great benefit to AARP's membership and they should support you to get that done!!

Jim - awesome! Working with AARP should help. I have been spreading the word as fast as I can (I keep it technically simple) - I work in InfoSec - Incident Response, I have users clicking with mad abandon, and increasing service ticket load. I ensure they haven't clicked or responded (hopefully) and refer them to your videos. I think you may have picked up a couple new Patreon supporters!
