Collaboration with Mark Rober

I've just had a Skype chat with Mark Rober. If you don't know who he is, think of a video where a package thief gets more than he bargained for when he steals one of Mark's specially-engineered boxes, complete with glitter bomb and fart spray.

Check out that video and his channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/onemeeeliondollars

We've agreed to create a video together and I'd like to pick your collective brains on some of the content. Mark's a very competent engineer and I can get onto scammers computers, potentially their webcams.

So what would you like to see in such a video?

I had been donating, changed c card n need to set up again, help. Also call centers are advancing n learn new ways to avoid $$ traps. Paid date or chat sites. Maybe not all sites or enrollees scams but harder to track $ or fakes. I had snail mail evidence n gov fraud dept no help. Reviews n Funchatt site Very slick, Sophisticated, Expensive. Anyone trying to crack this type? Or just the childish a amateur Indian gamers?

Love Robers Inventiveness! So glad to see your collaboration.

Thanks......sorry to disturb

Hello Imtiyaz, I do sympathise, but I can't respond to requests for help. I can give general advice, but unless the scammer has a reason to connect to MY PC, I cannot help. Can you email me... with details: jimbrowning@fastmail.fm Thanks, Jim

I think it has to something that personally changes the scammer life, after getting into your videos i was shocked (and I’m in tech support, tell my parents how not to fall for scams), how they just treat it like a real job, for a real business, deluded that they are giving out a “service”. The people that work for the business need to see it for what it is.

How about you send the scammer a fake "award" with a self-contained webcam inside it? Maybe a gold statuette for "Top Customer Service" from an imaginary survey company? I bet they'd display it and if you can log on to it with their wifi pw you'd have a spy in the room. As a bonus you could have a fart spray, klaxon and glitter bomb etc which you could set off by remote signal at the most amusing moment.

You could ship a box engineered by Mark to the location you suspect a scammer operation being executed from. The box contains a battery powered printer which starts printing out incriminating material or personal information once the package/box is being opened. It could also print out "wanted" pamphlets with the scammers picture (taken from either their computer or webcam) on it. So in case the adress is slightly wrong, at least the neighbours would get the wanted pamphlets to hang up in the neighbourhood. The box should also contain the usual "Mark stuff" such as mobilephones recording what's happening after the box is being opened and last but not least - the fart spray. Off topic: I visited my parents today and they told me that they get shady phonecalls almost every day. I picked up one of those phonecalls once and indeed it was a "Microsoft support technician" with a indian accent and they tried to make me install some software which i of course did not do. Long story short, i came home after that visit, remembered that i saw something about you once, looked you up again and became patreon. I think you are doing wonderful and important work for a lot of people. Thanks! Message me in case you are interested in the phonenumber they usually call from and the name they keep asking for on the phone.

Mark Rober is great and you are great! I can't wait to see what you guys do!

Mark Rober is awesome. That Glitterbomb was, indeed, Da bomb.

Could you somehow take control of the phones so when they get a potential victim on the phone you can mute the scammer and tell the victim who they are (real name and details) and what they're doing? Or make it so every number they call is rerouted to the police station, or whichever agency would be most inclined to find these punks? Or drain any money they have, either the company's or theirs personally, and give it back to victims? What about hacking into their cars and making them inoperable? Getting control of their computers and playing furry porn on a loop? I imagine it's a fine line trying to fuck with them and not get yourself in legal trouble, but anything you can do to help a victim and really stick it to the thieves is so satisfying!

Hi Jim, I think a PiHole style device aimed at warning of known scamming sites would be really useful, have wider benefits if open-source, and I think fits Mark Rober's typical builds. As this is something I would want to give to a vulnerable person, I think it would be best built around the idea of a smoke detector - so it would sniff traffic of the network and give an audible alarm, that has to be manually silenced with a physical button, when a scam url is clicked. I think the benefits would be: - Being similar to a smoke detector, the idea of the device should be pretty familiar to almost all users, and although false positives are annoying, we deal with them with smoke detectors too… - A physical warning system (lights and/or audible alarm) would be more user-friendly for less computer-literate users than an on-screen pop-up. - The design can be open-sourced after the build leaving the potential for it to be picked up by the hobbyist community (like PiHole…or Pwnagotchi…) or even by manufacturers. Ideally on a arduino/esp32 for cheapness though. - a physical case design, possible with a screen, could be shared for the diy builders. Some challenges: - As well as the hardware side, it would need input from scam-baiters to compile the blacklist of urls. I see this as similar to the block-lists for adblockers. Maybe this is too big a job? Or maybe common threads in the scammers js popups can be exploited? - I know the Pi-Hole requires some manual setup on the local router and this would clearly be a big barrier to getting this device installed in a vulnerable user’s home. I think a more user-friendly method would be needed. - *If* the device ended up being built by others, I can image some actors could see them as a useful exploit. Having a network listening device installed in a home seems like a juicy target to me. I’ve no idea how you’d stop this. Thanks for all your work!

I see a lot of people are really into the prank part of this, but as these scammers are doing financial harm, typically to those in retirement with no other means of income, I think the best thing would be to shutdown the call centers with an EMP. Something small enough to only take out a handful of computers in the room while you use multiple cctv footage to show the moment of detonation. Maybe hit 5 calls centers over a period of time. This would save a lot of people hardship and money for real people.

Yes!

I'm guessing you want to take down the scammers, rather than just annoy them, so I have an idea that might work while still taking advantage of yours and Mark's skillsets. You could ask for Mark's help in creating a device that covers the recipient in fluorescent dye, and if you hack into their CCTV, you could watch it happen. The device could also have cameras in it. You might be able to figure out the identity of a contact of a scam organization and attach that to the box as a return address, to get them to actually open it. Or you could send these devices to the home addresses of any scammers that you can locate, possibly using a contact in India to assemble and mail the packages domestically. After this takes place, you could send the footage to a local police department, and the dye on their person would be visible under black-light and solidify their guilt. It'd be flamboyant enough to reach the more casual crime-fighting style of Mark's channel, while still requiring a lot of planning, gathering of intelligence, and in the end, it could help get the criminals put away.

@NukeTheBabyWhalesforJesus I'm sorry you're so offended by my idea but I'm not the one doing the scamming so please back off. I know they deserve way more than that but i was only trying to create something similar to what Mark had already done. My mother HAS been ripped off by scammers and I'm a patreon for that reason. What gets under my skin is keyboard warriors such as yourself that rant angrily at someone that's just trying to help. Oh and speaking of people wanting to end their own lives, I've just spent the last week in hospital dealing with my mother's metastasized cancer so your comment was the last thing i needed. So go fuck yourself sincerely Ben

Are you serious??? So these people who are stealing billions from people (obviously no one you know personally or I imagine you’d have a bit more to say with some actual substance) should be subjected to a 3 Stooges style prank that would ‘affect’ one person and do NOTHING in the long run or even for the day. I knew the fake Rober package Thief videos would bring out bad ideas but this one might take the cake. Please go read up on the numbers as to what these pukes are taking from innocent hard working people that just happen to be kind trusting people who are a bit older and therefore don’t fully grasp all the intricacies of Internet gibberish. Because they deserve a HELL of a lot more than that short bus concocted idea of yours. No disrespect but I just don’t get how this stuff doesn’t get under peoples skin more and make you want to ruin their lives as they’ve callously done to millions of others, INNOCENT people, hard working innocent elderly or disabled people whose lives are already difficult and then someone who has no heart, no soul and no compassion preys on them to the point where they end their lives or become a hollow shell of who they once were. Life is cheap these days I’ll give you that, and it’s beyond unfortunate but these people need to be made an example of for what they do day in and day out. It’s downright vomit inducing. All the best, stay safe out there Ben>

Anything that would actually have a tangible effect on these call centers operations - to hell with goofy glitter bombs (seriously?!) we’re talking about pensions, retirements and life savings during a global pandemic and skyrocketing unemployment rates - these ‘people’ have no morals and they deserve jail time and honestly much more than that (namely losing their money and a future wage garnishment attached to their personal info so they can never again be hired doing this stuff and are always reminded of robbing innocent people of their hard earned money) on top of that; and I know this is all mostly impossible in places like India but how bout work crews, like how American jails have inmates cleaning the sides of the roads etc. I just want Every single one of these people to actually feel some repercussions from their disgusting actions instead of just moving on with a slap on the wrist and continuing this type of activity. I guess in terms of what Rober could assist with, something that would automatically recognize this type of activity and then either block outgoing calls from a location or set up an AI that just wastes their entire days (not easy I realize) but theres gotta be something that could really have a tangible effect on this disgusting practice. Or maybe rerouting all outgoing scammer calls to the local police station/internet crimes division (if they even have that)/local news station or just the forums full of people willing to help (you could have a set time for people to schedule with, where the operation would commence) make a program that could infect each machine in a designated and vetted scam call center that would effectively destroy any ability of said machine from operating their scam. Really just brainstorming so I’m sure a lot of what I said is not doable but this prospect of a collab between you two could really produce something exceptional. I really really hope something comes of this and has an effect. Not only that but the reach Rober has with his audience etc really could get the word out to a much larger degree and have a truly tangible effect on these sh!7stains!

you and mark are very intelligent the results of you two working together should be amazing your pal robert......aka quackdoggy

ROBERT CROMER

I'm a bit late to this party, but Mark has enough funds to build his own call centre and hire enough people to phone the scam centres. Though I'm sure someone could build a program to do the same, a Google talk meets DDos attack to flood their telephone lines.

No but I bet many of the victims whom he calls back do wonder this.

Can you scam them by somehow making it look like they're getting busted by law enforcement?

Mark Rober is Superman and Jim is Batman.

Do you guys ever wonder if this is scammer inception and we’re being scammed by Jim who is pretending to thwart other scammers? I had a dream about it :-|

Love this!

I really enjoy any collaboration that Mark Rober is involved with. Very much looking forward to this.

With serious consideration to many factors, these are my suggestions . Jim Browning Part With Webcam access Jim can show -Footage of the boss -Footage of the operation -Footage of the scammer’s reaction -Bonus would be a disruption of their devices . It’s Important to get the message about these activities out there. We need raise awareness and gather solid proof during that. . . Mark Rober Part Create device to cause trouble such as Smoke/gas/stink bomb to annoy and halt their operations temporarily. Due to perhaps US & International law restriction, I suggest that this device should not be send from US, but instead locally using a 3rd person if needed. His device will hopefully help to garner more attention from both the public and the media. . . 3rd person in India Part From Jim webcam observations or by gaining info from their computer, more can perhaps be found out about their habits & activities. By using local delivery the package can blend in more easily into their daily activity. Something like delivering a box of food or item so the package does not raise suspicion. Since the 3rd person might be at risk sending such package, it is therefore imperative that the person can present proof to authorities. . Perhaps with this device & plan colaboration you can attract media attention and gain publicity that can prompt the autority to close down their operation. . Lastly, I wish you the best of luck & stay safe (to all participants)

Send them a package that can really stink up a storm and record from their cctv the moment its starts stinking it up. Maybe make it a couple of smaller desk toys, so multiple ones will be set off all over their office.

The only thing that would really hurt them is to somehow turn the tables on them. Of course, wipe out their bank acount but that would be a crime on your part so you couldn't do that. But perhaps some way to find out their names and then find them on social media and send each person a link to a webpage that has proof of their crimes.....like "INfo on your friend XYZ who is scamming people"..and then there would be unmistakable proof. It seems like the authorities are just as corrupt. Probably the scammers slip them $500 and everything goes away. But public shame is still powerful. Look what its doing with the "cancel culture" here in the US. With these scammers, everything should be off the table, expose them for the scammers they are. Or do a Stuxnet thing and install something on their network that drives them crazy. I have a few more but not a good idea to post on a public forum..

scott kochman

You could do something with a sketchy USB or something What if you record them working via CCTV and put it on a USB, and watch how they react when they put it in their computer

Maybe they could lock their computers and broadcast a message across all of their PCs, like a friendly PSA about the harm of scamming. Then run a script to encrypt their PCs upon reboot.

Jim, I know it's a big ask, but I'm not in any rush. You remember that video you did where you accessed the scammers CCTV? How awesome would it be to get one of Mark's devices going off on their own hacked CCTV. Hey. I know, It's Mission Impossible, but the next time you're sat watching some of those filthy animals at work on CCTV, think of me, rub your chin and think "I wonder if......" lol. Keep up the good work fella. Thanks

I'm not sure what I'd specifically want to see, but this is fantastic news. I _love_ Mark's work. Any collaboration between you two will almost certainly generate tons of awareness... and I also bet it will be cool as hell!

Have a paggage, that when opened, sprays blue ink everywhere much like the banks do with robbers. Also, have a few M80 firecrackers go off at the same time. You could also have a MP3 player saying something too, but that might be too much to do.

Rich ODrobinak

Yesssssssss great collaboration idea!

Nate

What about targeting a group that does ransomware attacks on hospitals? Reverse the attack and have them give themselves up to the authorities or else you will expose them and lock them out of all their accounts. With Mark Rober being a public figure, it may be more difficult from a legal perspective but it would be interesting to see what you two can come up with.

Seemingly normal looking good pc component part making it look like it's been sent to the wrong adress, but once installed into the pc and given power, it sprays out some crap that ruins the whole computer. 😂

Maxtine

I like this one. Not sure if anything like that exists, but can you imagine if it does? Or a magnetic pulse. lol

Maxtine

a box of dodgy USB drives delivered to a scammer of your choice; programmed to send webcam/data back to a honeypot pc!

Maybe a package that has some heavy dust/smoke or small debris that is harmless to people but is detrimental to electronic equipment? Set them back for hardware a bit without causing bodily harm?

Just about anything I could recommend would get you guys in trouble, but as two of my favorite channels, I know I'll watch anything you end up doing together!

Steve Jones

What about a USB stick that you claim has their codes for the gift card, but really ruins their computer, and turns on their webcam.

Send them a package of highly trained hacker squirrels which jump out of the box as we watch through their webcams and then the squirrels proceed to refund all the victims two-fold.

Retsof, the Nigerian 419 scams has gone way past “Nigerian Prince“ scheme. It’s getting too dangerous, even to innocent Nigerians.

Holy crap that's awesome. Any way you could use your skills to track the addresses of the scammers and then have Mark send them a package like the ones he sent the package thieves?

Maybe you can do something targeting 419 scams? I know the tech support scam is more typical for you, but the classic "Nigerian Prince" scheme is still very much active.

I think the FBI would have more important things to do than worry about a guy who’s giving scammers what they deserve

I would just like to point out that Mark is an American, and nearly everything Jim is doing is illegal in America. So make sure what ever you do is not illegal, or at least Mark's post shouldn't have the illegal part. I guess I would just think, what if the FBI is watching Jim's channel?

Getting some sort of rigged tech into a scam call centre would be some achievement! Another glitter "bomb" perhaps?

Something to do with a raid alarm. Like they do for the popups. Really loud, locks me out.

Harry Conger

Why not send them a free TV. In the hope that they put it up in the office, claiming to be a give away from amazon or something. If it doesnt, one of them will atleast take it home. Insert into the tv, little gadgets for fun. A slow releasing fart smell. That builds over time, making sure no one suspects the TV. A webcam? You could even create your own TV content to blare at them. Turn it on before they get in the office and put on some horrific film for them first thing in the morning. You could insert your own simcard, into the tv for a permanent internet connection no matter where it is so you can get the footage sent to you. For instance you could use this... https://cpc.farnell.com/tp-link/tl-mr3020-v3-2/portable-3g-4g-wireless-n-router/dp/CS32591?mckv=s4isLGeH8_dc|pcrid|224690506549|kword||match||plid||slid||product|CS32591|pgrid|50784124721|ptaid|pla-846731516583|&CMP=KNC-GUK-CPC-SHOPPING&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6uT4BRD5ARIsADwJQ1-wMCf5Wl_2hOyxAipUtT70Tok97itOSXD3mPSAGZck5U8qXD7xKvsaAiorEALw_wcB

Firstly been a...."lurker" of yours for some time, also a big fan of Kitboga, he has established himself quite a living with his technique and well there is good in what he does absolutely, I do however think very highly of yourself, you call them out you show them EXACTLY what they did and how its BS, you will RAT them and try and refund the victims and try and expose these pieces of..... I have a pretty decent setup myself and moderate IT skills, although next to yourself or kit I look like I suck my thumb, Im slowly gathering the tools and prepping a tasty VM with many snapshots and I would love to see some how to's from you I have seen your one about disguising up your VM I have yet to do that but very useful, I think posting those things on youtube too detailed will take away the "advantage" we have over them Id love to see more of those sort of things, I just want to WASTE their time and attempt to stop what little I can of their crap, It disgusts me, many of kits videos as he (humorously) drags them along they get violent, threatening and they literally target people who are older/not familiar with computers probably only use the thing for emails and facebook. Its bullying but much more disgusting than that especially seeing how much they rip people for. So yeah love your work, wanted to put in what I could towards your efforts as it is a lot of setup and a lot of monitoring and its noble and also have access to some of the content the youtube overlords rule out. so hey hey from Queensland, Australia man! I will have to stew on this collabaration for a bit see what I can think of, I reckon a good one but potentially not so "clickbaity" but it would be very annoying for them however it wanders into an area that is well it is for the greater good but its probably something one would have to weigh up, would be too bait them and convince them that you dont "trust" the interwebz and will send them the giftcard numbers on a usb with notepad on it, and crafty up a lovely little usb killer that would upon getting power would charge up its capacitators and fire a lethal shot to one of their computers, it may only get one device though you could socially engineer them by saying that it is one amongst perhaps like 40 usb sticks in the box or that it will only work under "xxxxx" conditions for more kills, would be a test of their thirst fr giftcards, if you could really sell it I wonder how many pcs they would cook trying to get the American governments confirmed method of payment (giftcards) that would be amusing but sorta kinda illegal, imagine though especially if you could watch it, ohh man alive the satisfaction would be majestic. I will ponder

I saw this post after watching my first ever video of yours and had to sign up for your Patreon! I'm excited for the collab!

Seeing as Mark’s work is very physical and your work very digital I think taking down some of those scammers that make you send stuff to a foreign country would be fun.

Monika Kremer

Given he was an engineer for NASA I am thinking drone. So once you know where they are, and what they look like, you can use that to look at the building, carry a payload, mark the building etc.

Of the top of my head. It would be nice if you could implement a trojan / virus in their system. The goal would befor it to insert itself into any of their calls warning the caller that they are being scammed. It could go from a gentel wisper "it is a scam" and ramp up to a full blown "IT IS A SCAM HANG UP THE PHONE". And secondary it would also gather any data you would need to make a case agains them. Or maybe data mine them to see if you can learn any new information about their habits.

Given that the glitter-fart trap needed to be manually retreived each time it was used, a device would need to be assumed lost if a package were sent to a company. With that in mind, something useful besides a camera or microphone in a box, might be a wide-range and hard hitting WiFi jammer - (remotely activiated once you verify delivery) - which could be in a specially designed Black Box for this purpose. The silent jammer would probably not draw attention to itself for a while after it was activated. Assuming they don't just throw the package away, the non descript case wouldn't suggest a jammer was in there, just a strange unopenable box. The best case scenario would be if the package is delivered but not immediately opened. That way it would be active whilst still inside a comouflaged postal pack.

This sounds like a great collab, but as has been posted, your skillset is in the virtual world while his are more practical... Depending on how long a scam centre is in operation, you might ship something and before it arrives, the place gets closed down? Also during Covid, I would imagine scammers are also working from home, which may make it harder / less tongue-in-cheek and more harassment sending packages to home addresses. Seems I'm just being negative, but Im' honestly excited to see the final video... These were the first things that popped into my head

Get network-spreading worm on there, might be useful

Hellforger

Crazy, but could work: create software that you can run on their computers which takes multiple pictures of these scammers, uploads them to a database, and reports them to the FBI, along with their name. I'm so excited to see whatever video you put together, you and mark are fantastic!

Sergio

Run your own scam on them where you put soliciting cards on their vehicle windows promising a free gift if they call this number, send the gift, and then spew confetti and fart from a can while getting it all on film. Assuming contacts in India would help. A deployable autonomous "BB8" type fart bomb which evades around the scammers office stinking it up while shrieking piercing high pitched tones. Really get the whole call center in an uproar, not just a single scammer. It would be neat to disrupt the whole call center at once, so they would have to hang up on all the potential victims.

Ovide Mercure

Act like an old lady that wants to mail a check to a group of scammers, and mail them a mark rober special glitter bomb

AtHeartEngineer

This is no small feat, but with your contact(s) in the region.... how about deploying an irresistible package in the scammers 'backyard' (literally) that may involve them investigating it by plugging into a PC?

Gather as many details about a call center you can and have a mysterious package delivered which reads out the details you found in an ominous tone to spook them. Other idea would be around having a device that is broadcasting an open wireless hotspot with built in man-in-the-middle capabilities.

Ooh. I'm all for more stuff with cameras, glitter farts a bonus. Maybe there's a way of sneaking ths hardware in, having them install it. I'm imagining via planting electronic order details for it, attached to the name of an off-site manager?

Hey Jim, how about a glitter bomb with EXTRA STRENGTH FART SPRAY! Send that to the scammers and see if you can get a video feed of it. They'll think they're going to be getting their money. When we're venting our frustration.

Yes - I see lots of these. Great potential there.

Jim Browning

Nothing against Mark, he's a good guy and has some interesting content. However*, you are doing God's work. You are a genuinely kind guy who helps those in need. Superhero without the manufactured flaws and drama. Your work is truly more important and he has to join your cause. I don't know what value he can add. There seem to be precious few areas that you lack. Nice to get that local collaboration though. That really was amazing in the one call center take down. Maybe collaborate with a local lawyer? * Not a religious person, but if I were ever to tag someone's work as "God's work", it would be yours. Thanks for all you do!

I want to buy one of those boxes. I hate package thieves.

Craig Browning

You'd also be crossing from psuedo-vigilante activities that don't break any (serious) laws into full blown accessing computer network and systems you are not permitted to access. Jim would find himself in a load of shit if he were discovered and would have become a person trying to do good in the world against scammers while edutaining us into a criminal hacker. I don't even know why you'd suggest something like that, this isn't what Jim is about

My ideas are more for marks local pranks sorry

Or a motion sensor activates a cat meow sound byte and shakes the box as though a cat has been sent in the mail. Could time it so it goes off 10secs after they grab it.

Might be a long shot, but a direct payment scam (putting cash in a box and sending it via fedex, but hiding it in pages of a book) , could work well - you do the remote call centre stuff, Mark does the self-tracking package to see who receives the cash

Ray Hicks

How about a package that yoinks itself back to the porch on a fishing line when it reaches the front fence? The look on the thiefs face would be priceless

I think the Skype might be behind-scenes. Are you looking for one of these? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoxhDk-hwuo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_TSR_v07m0

Andy Luke

This was probably the most exciting e-mail I've received in recent memory. A collab between my two favorite YouTube stars?! Unreal! I think it would be really cool to see Mark expand on the topic of social engineering, and perhaps conduct experiments with scambaiting. I have never heard of what "social engineering" was until I found your channel. For some reason, the phrase sounds like it has a positive connotation, when the opposite is true with its definition. I wish I had a more specific idea for you, but I think Mark would really raise strong awareness of the bread-and-butter scam tactic of pretending to be someone else.

Mark is a mechanical engineer, if I remember correctly, so I'm not exactly sure what he'd be able to do in the scambaiting world. But I look forward to the collab. Any update on the Kitboga collab? Kit recently said you two were in talks about doing something else, but I never did see the collab you both alluded to awhile ago. Love seeing you work with other creators!

LizzyC

Kitboga is actually working on a scambait bot. He's tested a few times (videos on youtube and twitch). A lot of the time the scammers phones are so bad and there's so many background noise that the AI struggles to hear the scammer so it doesn't respond quickly enough, so he's working on that issue now.

LizzyC

Most full stack network switches has plenty of room inside for Rpi installtion. If you somehow make them belive it's a replecment device / gift. You would have full access from inside, and plenty possibilities of installing usefull hacker stuff.

Omggg I'm so excited to see what you're going to do, I love Mark's amazing ideas. I really hope you'll be able to figure sth out to combine your both' skills 😬

I didn't see the video, just his page with a lot of other videos.

Craig Browning

Scan there network for firmware exploits. They have plenty of crappy cams, printers etc.. Install a bug with random effects. A dhcp server, and a dns server that redirects to fake sites. They will probably reinstall there computers, and still get the same error afterwords. Or let Mark design something with a hidden respberry pi, that could work as a Trojan horse.

Set up a site that doxes the criminals & welcome their attempts at retribution/legal recompense, using them to further incriminate themselves. Work with local & global authorities (Interpol, whoever is interested), to stamp out scammer activities & corruption, as far as your (presumably, soon to be) new-found fame can get you. See if there are any "secretive, hacker/activist organizations" who might be interested in doing a deep dive on the scammers you identify, in order to dissuade them from further criminal activities. Some sort of Enemy of the State, level life disruption, character & credibility exposure.

Chris Phillips

Congrats man! To add to Jonathan Webber’s suggestion - what kind of AI botnet could be created with more resources? I think an interesting video would be to play up your time wasting and information gathering on a HUGE scale - doing the basic data collecting via automated BotNET “customers”, then assembling a large scale “offensive” which would surely provide enough good content for mark to make a viral video, and also for you to be able to generate content for your more in-depth videos. Again - Congrats! I’m proud to play a small part in you doing what you are doing. Such a universal positive in these times of bickering and division!

P W

One thing I noticed with your videos is the scammer hardly listens to what you say as they typically stick to their script. What about an AI BOTNET designed to make multiple calls simultaneously to the scammer's call center and keeping them on the line as long possible by using automated responses. It then keeps calling essentially shutting down their center.

Make it look like a very valuable package sent by a private person. In this package, there will be an incredible immportant looking USB stick. I am not a technical person, but I figure, that way you could access their computer and scare them even more..

Yes - I see quite a lot of "send a box of money to this address" scams. I actually stopped one of these just yesterday. We did chat about this. I've sent some shit (via shitexpress) before, so perhaps we could do something more technical.

Sending a fart spray package to a call center would shut down the center for at least a day. Hopefully members would be intimidated. And maybe you could get it on cctv. And for extra include pictures of the call centers family members and addresses in the box. Or have a package thief use something that takes over hardware.

Wow. That's a collab if I've ever seen one. Real excited about it. Maybe try to send the scammers on a wild goose chase? Literally. Mount a controller on a goose and hook it up to a voice clip machine like you had done in that one video. The random actions the goose does will end up trolling the scammers and preventing them from scamming real victims.

Locate a scammer's building like you did in your last major operation, and then send presents from Mark and film the reaction using their own security cameras!

Some really good points.

I can only foresee this somehow working if the "prank" happens in the US. Because once the package goes abroad (especially India), then there goes all the hardware engineered. One idea that comes to mind is if the scammer has a P.O.Box in the US where you "send the money" to them. That would then track them back to their physical location and give you the proper GPS location for you to direct the authorities to. I bet all these scammers must have someone in the states doing something for them from within to allow them to do the scams. So far, you've done well to find their location abroad (Asia, Africa, Europe, etc...), but it may be more effective getting them in the US (or UK or whatever). It would be even MORE worth it if after some investigation (and finding out what city the packages ends up going to), you would pre-warn said authorities so that once the package goes off, they'll be ready to receive your alert and raid their site. That's really the only (and most optimal) way I can think of to collab with Mark.

Don't forget a lot of these scammers have US citizens that receive money and handle forwarding it. Could target one of these scammers, however a lot of them deliver it to like a B&B so may not actually live at the address,

I have a few. 1. Take over their dialer and have it call the FBI or Local authorities, after including them. 2. Get a local courier to deliver something mark has made while you have their camera hijacked for your viewers.

If any of this is going to be staged, as some of Rober's videos are, I am not interested in it at all. However, I am sure that it will get you quite a few views.

Mark is mostly a hardware guy, but obviously with some great software skills, too. Problem is that this all has to be done remotely as neither of you are going to be traveling to India. Sending malicious articles to someone is pretty criminal, may well get stopped by customs if internationally sent, and it is certainly not what the glitter bomb was all about. One important thing there is that the package was stolen by the criminal. Sending surveillance items is also pretty dodgy and it is difficult to get comms hardware registered in a country remotely. Mark is very well known so must stick to the letter of the law. I am having a hard time thinking what you could do so I hope you have a better imagination than me but I think it will have to be all software/remote comms.

Syd

Jim, I am super impressed with your skills--wish I knew how you do it. Mark Rober is a genius, too. While I would enjoy seeing the bad guys get tricked, I really want to see them hit where it hurts. I want to see you drain their bank accounts and destroy their computers and networks--maybe overwrite firmware on their routers. If that is illegal, then don't publish the video. Publish the video where we get to see them opening a stink bomb so we can get a big laugh, but then in the background, please silently destroy their networks after draining their bank accounts to fund your own efforts. For any victims you can identify, anonymously send their money back. We need a modern day Robin Hood hacker for this problem.

ooooo, in the film "Van Wilder" they send some really lovely doughnuts...….. that's another thought!

Dave Stowell

this is quite difficult to be fair..... it cant involve sending them a glitter bomb or anything to do with a squirrel obstacle course for obvious reasons.... maybe, you could go a whole different direction and find some really devastated scammed people and send them an awesome care package??? its a terrible idea, but it might make people think differently about this, I dunno.

Dave Stowell

I would love to see you take some of these terrorists down. Please stay safe and check with a lawyer before sending things through the mail, especially internationally. That said, I would love it if you used mercaptan instead of fart spray to give the authorities permission to search the building.

Mark probably can build some tracking/recording device, similar to glitter bomb box tho it should be very small to hide it. Then you guys can send it as a package with "fake" money to few money mules in USA, so we can track them, see their flow. Something related to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in_Y5q_-F2Y and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QWsi7zj6kc tho going much deeper . You guys even can pass this info to FBI at some point

Track a package thief and contact them via phone call

Make them misdirect calls and or packets to bigshots in their neighbourhood instead of their intended victims

If you could hack a scammer groups camera system again and make them think there is a raid coming. Would be funny to see them hassle and maybe start breaking computers or something. You could be talking to them and then pretend to talk to a swat team and have the scammer think you made a mistake and that's why they can hear your conversation with the non existent law enforcement team.

finlandster

Oh this is going to be incredible... :D The basic idea has been suggested already (find out where scammers are and send them a beautiful gift) -> and get that on tape :P but the problem is it'll likely be opened in a reception room or something and the person who gets it may not even be part of the scam... I'll give it some more thought though :)

Jeno

Oh man the trolling troll possibilities here...my mind is a whirl.

Susansterlingg

That. Is. Dark.

Mark can bring SO much attention to this issue with his large audience. This is brilliant. Take your time coming up with ideas. Get as much access as possible and then troll the shit out of them. I'll wait as long as it takes

Yes, this!!!!!! Stink up their entire call center.

I will find it funny no matter what you both end up deciding to do 😊 Much love from Australia 👍

OH YES. This is going to be one of the most epic crossovers of all time. The possibilities are endless.

Yes!!!! You got it. Please do it!!

Kumail Abbas

This might be a bit dark, but I've always thought it would be interesting to see how a scammer reacts if you convince him that he caused his victim to kill themselves. I feel like I need to see that these disgusting people are still human, and will react appropriately when dealing with the death of another human.

Bick

See if you can find scammers addresses, then send them the glitter bomb packages

Do what you do best.

Make a chat bot or a chat bomb with it slamming there call center so no room for people to get scammed while the mechanic is running

lordfaming

Various torture things like persistent pop-ups on the scammer's screen, followed by a cryptolock.

Track some American scammers and have Mark, send him packages daily out of annoyance slowly revealing what and why this is happening

Why not see if you can track a package thief?
