A scammer taking advantage of a child
Added 2019-03-18 13:20:41 +0000 UTCI routinely encounter scammers who take advantage of vulnerable people. But this particular group have no qualms in taking advantage of a child.
This is a genuine recording from a group of scammers who I will be exposing very soon. This call happened today (18th March 2019), is unedited and you will probably find the audio truly sickening. "Edward Joy" (our scammer's fake name) actually ran software to retrieve stored passwords on this child's PC (34:07). I have been in touch with her mother to ensure that those passwords are changed.
It's calls like this and your continued support which motivate me to go after these guys. Prison is too good for some people.
Thank you again for your support.
Comments
This is PURE EVIL and there WILL BE A RECKONING that is certain. If you didn't already, forgive me if you did already, please tell her Mom to put something over the camera.

2021-06-21 22:58:25 +0000 UTCWow. This is very sad... I hope this man is put behind bars and receives professional help
2021-04-16 00:14:26 +0000 UTCThis is why there are parental controls on devices. Listening to this just really made my blood boil. I get very passionately angry at child predators of ANY kind! This just gives me more strength to bait these scammers and help get them busted!

2021-02-08 20:34:13 +0000 UTCIs that the pedo playbook? I'm wondering because I thought that scamsman must've thought this scared child, I think a boy, was an adult woman...

2021-01-08 10:20:15 +0000 UTCI hate it when kids are taken advantage of! This is breaking my heart, and it's absolutely disgusting the lengths they will go to! "Is this your personal computer or your work computer?" ... "you are a student or a teacher?" - is he actually that stupid or is he not paying enough attention because he just doesn't give a damn? Either answer is appropriate, I guess. The voice on the other end of the call is clearly very young and not an adult! Jim, if you ever need any support with any research or anything, please give me a shout. I'm not quite as savvy as you with the networking side of things, but I do have some skills that may be useful and I'd love to help! It's hearing calls and encounters like this that really make my blood boil. I found this very difficult to listen to, but it's really good that you share this kind of thing because we're all learning more and more about how they work, and also their limits - which seems to be little to none. As you said: sickening! Truly sickening! This shows that we may need to ensure we do a little more to educate and protect our kids now. Part of the parental controls we set on our kids' PCs should be to block websites for downloading remote connection software and educating them on the scams that are out there. For the record, I'm in no way blaming the parents here, of course, as they were most likely not aware of these kinds of scams and/or probably didn't even think of protecting their kids against such a thing - most people probably wouldn't have this in mind, and probably wouldn't know how to protect against this. I feel for that kid, and I hope her and her family are more educated and safe now, in general. We shouldn't need to safeguard ourselves and our kids in such a manner, but we do. I'm sorry this is a long comment. It was a bit of a rant, I guess. This just really frustrated and upset me, to say the very, very least! What an absolute [insert as many insults as you like] "person" that scammer is! Thank you, Jim, for everything that you do! You're the epitome of a Hero, and also perhaps a Guardian Angel, as you watch over us. I have so much respect for you!

2020-12-30 05:27:14 +0000 UTCYes, Jim, I too am available for any help you may need with time-consuming work that’s kinda easy...for you anyway cuz I’m not a pro like you but I do offer my help ...any drudgery research etc. just let me know Jim!
2020-11-27 21:40:45 +0000 UTCListen to the scammers in the background!! My gosh!! It’s quite an industry isn’t it?! It’s amazing to me how these creeps can do this FOR A LIVING!!
2020-11-27 21:19:12 +0000 UTClol
2020-10-16 16:49:02 +0000 UTCGlad you were able to contact mom and change pass words
2020-07-23 06:22:07 +0000 UTCI feel like this is worse than taking advantage of older people
2020-07-12 05:48:08 +0000 UTCI wanted to, but I couldn’t (didn’t) want to listen to this after about 30 seconds in. This is the one of the reasons I fully support you Jim in your efforts. I absolutely hate scammers - and this is absolutely just wrong!

2020-06-16 19:11:21 +0000 UTCWere you ever able to identify this scammer ? His name and photo on a public forum would be of much interest.

2020-05-25 05:00:53 +0000 UTCI think I'm gonna skip this one and keep what's left of my humanity intact. I want to know, but I don't want to know... Just hearing the first few seconds is enough to forever fortify the struggle against these practices.

2020-01-13 18:19:00 +0000 UTCI worked with sex offenders in my day job and victims vountarily, if you ever thought your child could not be groomed, think again, This animal knows he is with a child but pretends he doesn't (are you a teacher or a student). I am beyond angry......Worse the child knows she is in too dep but is too afraid to call her parents. who are probably a room away. Jim I am disabled now and have nothing to do all day, If you have a laborious job that is too time consuming, I hav hours every day I have to fill, feel free to use me.
2019-11-14 21:29:54 +0000 UTCIt's interesting. The bunch that I am monitoring at the moment most definitely target adult websites. In fact, the first question in their script is "What were you doing on your computer when you got this 'warning message'". It's quite deliberate to feed a sense of embarrassment. They will also be sure to look at your browser history when they do gain access. They also target dodgy movie sites too with their malicious JavaScript. They are keen to associate something dodgy with their 'virus' message. All a narrative to get your money of course. I'm glad to hear, at least, that you've never been ripped off. I guess watching this channel males you much less likely to fall for one of their scams. You really don't have to be over 70 either!

2019-08-08 15:43:31 +0000 UTCSorry, I wasn't finished and pressed Enter by mistake. This method I used is a carryover from the days of BSOD as you all know, but I wonder how this info can be passed on to the general public so they don't have to go through scammers to "fix" their computers. By the way, I am in the range the scammers like to target (72 years old) and so far have no succumbed to these low-lifes you chase. Thank you very much for the good work you are doing.
2019-06-28 18:21:14 +0000 UTCA few years ago, I used to cruise some of the more modest adult sites, I started to get pop-ups supposedly from the RCMP and later from the Canada Revenue Agency. The info in these pop-ups didn't make sense to me (Why would the cops give me a warning they were coming to arrest me?). trying to close those screens didn't work so try the old fallback of using Ctrl+Alt+Del and got a list of options which included Task Manager. This was new to me so I opened TM and saw the list of open apps and tried to close my browser from there. That worked for me so I used that every time I saw the pop-ups. However this was annoying to me and eventually it cured me of cruising those sites.
2019-06-28 18:09:49 +0000 UTCThat would never be worthwhile because kids have never been the target of these people - kids don't have bank accounts. I'd even argue that most kids today are, if anything, only more tech savvy than their parents, and could probably spot this scam easier then they could. It's for these reasons that the elderly are the main target, and everyone has to know, so we can all tell them about it. Bank tellers desperately need better training in this area! I know personally, if someone's grandmother came in trying to make a $19k xfer to Coinbase I'd have at least a couple of questions for her. edit: On second thought, the bank teller probably only sees an account number, for some reason I assumed it would be a company name
2019-05-07 06:56:10 +0000 UTCPlumbing new depths...

2019-04-05 13:16:03 +0000 UTCthis is sickning poor child sounds nearly in tears. scammers should be shot but this would be too good for them
2019-03-26 16:56:44 +0000 UTCIf you would like, there some tools out there that could help parse the data (which I'm sure you're already doing). I'm more than happy to help if you need it.

2019-03-22 15:16:00 +0000 UTCI have the real names of all of the scammers in this call centre, but not their fake names which they use on these phone messages. I have ALL of their inbound calls over the past 30 days and I might be able to piece together which fake name this is, however, there are 18,000 calls and trying to see which person this is will prove very difficult. But I'll try.

2019-03-21 22:01:57 +0000 UTCJim, please, in your expose video, expose this fucking scumbag specifically.
2019-03-21 21:02:06 +0000 UTCAbsolutely and completely sickening. At times i struggle to find words for how angry these people make me.

2019-03-19 06:37:45 +0000 UTCThis breaks my heart. Child abuse, plain and simple. Thank you, Jim, for all you do.
2019-03-19 01:27:16 +0000 UTCWell done for all your good work, Jim.

2019-03-18 22:30:07 +0000 UTCShe's is Australian. This group seem to target the US and Australia the most.
Jim Browning
2019-03-18 22:16:55 +0000 UTCThis made me so very angry. This is disgraceful child abuse; you can hear how fearful the child is. He/she says high school; are they Australian? Subhuman is a good description, Chris.

2019-03-18 21:39:32 +0000 UTCAwful! I just read this article today about something else regarding kids <a href="http://www.ocregister.com/2-virtual-kidnap-cases-in-24-hours-has-laguna-beach-police-on-alert" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.ocregister.com/2-virtual-kidnap-cases-in-24-hours-has-laguna-beach-police-on-alert</a>

2019-03-18 21:31:47 +0000 UTCTotally agree with Dobromir & Scott. A saturday morning infomercial aimed at kids - don’t call that pop up number - tell mom/ dad - take it to a computer store for advice! - Would get thru to some adults too. Another thought is about the telephone number called - is it a premium rate number?
2019-03-18 20:38:16 +0000 UTCThey didn't pay any money thankfully. It's more about this poor child being on the brink of tears, but this doesn't deter the adult trying to scam her.
Jim Browning
2019-03-18 20:01:25 +0000 UTCI still can't believe after all the time this has been going on people still fall for this sickening act. The people that run TV should make an advert alerting people that this is a scam. Poor child and did they pay any money Jim? Keep up the good work.
2019-03-18 18:49:16 +0000 UTCNot sure how old this child is, but if young enough, this could be considered child abuse, not only identity theft. Very, very serious crime and long jail time!
2019-03-18 18:42:36 +0000 UTCRespect to you Jim for fighting this evil.

2019-03-18 18:19:55 +0000 UTCTo be honest, it's calls like this when I lose any sympathy for any group involved in scams. It didn't matter that the poor girl was on the brink of tears several times during this call. Whether it's the young or old, at the end of the day it's fraud. I'll keep going after these people.
Jim Browning
2019-03-18 14:52:16 +0000 UTCI couldn't bring myself to listen to more than a few seconds. You are a wonderful person, for wading through the mire, to fight these despicable subhumans.
