Identity theft... why is is so devastating?

This is a Patron-only version and is about twice as long as the YouTube version and, of course, you are the first to see it. It's my way to show thanks to you for your support.

Someone has access to your identity documents... why is it so devastating? This video shows how scammers use these documents to create bank accounts in your name and how they will raid your bank account if they are given enough access.

This particular person had a very lucky escape... they could have lost $19,000.

Thank you again for making this possible.

It's like watching a super hero movie. You are awesome!

Yes! Me too! Slap the crap out of them! Then say Jesus Christ TWICE while devilishly taking her money! In my mind, that’s taking the Lord’s name in vain eh?! So intense too! On the edge of my seat!!... then....Dun DunDunDun!! Jim the Super Hero flies in to zero in at the end!!! Wow! What a ride! Too close for comfort in my book tho right? Whew! 😰 (wiping sweat from forehead)

😭 oh Jim...I’m just speechless...and in tears. I wish I could reach through this computer to give you a big πŸ€— and 😘. Your rewards are mounting up in heaven. As the one comment said...you are a real life SUPER HERO!

I live on the other side of the world to my family and I worry about my parents all the time, thank you and may the universe bless you and yours, you're a real life super hero.

Wow, what a thriller!

I just wanted to slap the scammer 'listen to what Im telling you" grrr. Thank God you helped them and they didn't lose the money

Annette Erdtsieck

They'd keep calling you. Kitboga went a bit further and be pretended to buy something expensive (in front of the scammers) when they pretended to place $20,000 into his account. That was excellent.

Jim Browning

what happens wheen you just say thanks for the 500.00 refund and hang up..would they keep bothering you or just destroy your computer if they still have access?

I completely understanding why Nancy's husband is behaving like this....because I am in the same situation in the sense that...I can't even tell what is a scam and what is not anymore...sighh

Thank you Puddles (great name btw).

OMG Jim you are an absolute Angel for saving Nancy from this fraud. It makes me so angry that older people are being targeted in this evil way. I am glad to be a patron, please continue your great work! :)

Wow... Jim, this video made me cry with JOY!! Your deeds are indeed COMMENDABLE by all means. You went out of your way to saved this couple, not just their money that you've saved, but you saved them from endless agony. Your beautiful DEEDS are indeed a definition of the word... HERO. May you be protected and rewarded for these beautiful DEEDS for all of us. You walked more than you talked. And this makes you a ONE OF A KIND human being. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…

Holy crow... I'm so happy I became a patron today... This one call made everything else you do, worth it. I am more than happy to support someone like you, actively fighting the scammers... Thank goodness you got the husband to believe you. I can only imagine, he thought you were some kind of guardian angel...

I believe Jim’s people skills are fine. I’m not sure what you mean. He has a soft gentle voice and keeping his cool while being accused as a scammer himself. Nice work Jim these are my favourite videos when there is a happy ending.

holy crap, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the money went out. you really saved these people in the nick of time.

This gave me chills, you are a hero my god.

However, this particularly "lucky" person is not so lucky... ALL of her information is out there and potentially for sale on the dark web if the scammers are torqued they did not get their $19 grand. From your conversation with the husband, it sounds like they've been down this road before; perhaps even from his wife's doing. Hopefully he puts (or perhaps their bank) puts absolute restrictions in place. Their entire retirement is at risk.

Close one, Jim. Well done. TeamViewer needs to receive pressure to address their black screen feature.

Syd

Definitely. When I release the YouTube version, I'll be point Coinbase to the video to see what they can suggest. Screening any application by someone over the age of 70 should be a priority.

Jim Browning

Great video. Good to see that the scammers had no success. Why doesn't Coinbase check account openings of people as old as 70/80 years with a callback? The probability that something illegal will happen is probably very high.

Sounds like you need to rehearse your people skills just as much as the scammers have. Thankfully you were able to get ahold of them in time so they were able to cancel the transfer within the allowed window. But unfortunately for all the transactions you're able to catch, there are plenty more that go through, plenty of people who lose out on thousands of dollars. And not surprising they are starting to use crypto markets for money laundering. Perhaps you and Coinbase need to have a chat.
