Scareware - Part 2

In Part 1, I showed how, if you install 'Reimage' it misleads you about computer problems. If you are unfortunate enough to call their help desk, the agents are tasked with making money out of you by systematically fibbing to you and attempting to sell you un-necessary software and support.
This video exposes the company behind this scam: Echosoft Infocom in Delhi. Echosoft make upward of $20 million per year on the Reimage scam and by supporting other scareware like PCVARK software. They are a huge operation running 24x7 and take thousands of calls per day from victims all over the world.

I know. Apprarently, there are exactly 6 cyber police in Kolkata to handle hundreds of scammers in that city. You can see why nothing gets done.

2019-02-09 18:45:27 +0000 UTCIt is a shame our countries are not getting involved. Well some do, since Indian has shut down only a couple of these scam centres. Not enough to make a difference. Trade deals are worth more to them, than the tax payers.
