For my variant, I got to draw the not-everything-is-as-it-seems magical girl group, The Lovely Trio. I was tasked with communicating that while they look like heroes with good intentions, there's something nefarious and scheming going on beneath the surface. As you can see from the sketches, I decided to do a snapshot of them in the middle of a celebration. Maybe they're being celebrated with a parade after saving the day again? Sketch 1 had their true colors revealed in the camera of a smart phone. Sketch 2 was a little simpler but less clear - them looking devious while a crowd of onlookers cheer and applaud them.
The sketch with the camera phone ended up being the winner. It more effectively conveyed the message that this trio appeared to be noble and sweet but really were hiding something much more sinister. I hope y'all check out the new series!
