December 9 Update

Greetings!

Before I get into the status update, I'd like to implore folks to play the dungeon test build if they're at all inclined to do so. This dungeon isn't a 'slap some monsters in a maze and call it good' affair, it is filled with puzzles and action scenes involving the bomb mechanic I created. I'd really like to get some feedback on what I've done so far before I redo the boss encounter. Also, most of this dungeon relies on code that I've personally written (2k+ lines so far), so there's a higher-than-usual potential for unexpected things to happen, and I'd really like to catch as much of that as I can before 0.7 goes live. I've had only one playtester so far, and I'd really like to get some additional perspectives on the game (but that one person was extremely helpful!).

The test build doesn't include any new story content or H-scenes, and the current build doesn't include the boss fight. If you'd like to test, you'll find the current version in the "Test Builds" area of the Discord server. Only patrons should be able to see it, but it isn't restricted to particular tiers (ie, $1 patrons should be able to see it). If you have problems with permissions, please make sure you've linked your Discord account; if you still have issues, please let me know.

Now, on to the status update. Most of my development time lately has been spent finishing up the dungeon. I'll highlight the major tasks remaining in the appropriate sections:

0.7 Development Status:

Planning ~ 100%

Features and Mechanics ~ 75%

To do: implement H-scene progression revamp.

Dungeon and Boss Fight ~ 80%

To do: rework the boss fight.

H-Scenes ~ 75%

To do: finish postwork on the renders (I'm currently at 8/28) and write the H-scene dialogue.

Other Art (Character Design, Portraits) ~ 65%

To do: create conversation portraits for the succubus. I've decided I'll be introducing the previously mentioned new character in 0.8.

Quests, Events, and Writing ~ 40%

To do: complete a large portion of dialogue.

Testing ~ 30%

This is difficult to quantify, but with that one person's help I've already fixed a number of problems with the dungeon.


My tasks for the coming week are to finish postwork on the renders, complete the boss battle (once I get a bit more feedback on the test build), and write as much dialogue/events as I can. I don't want to put any dates down because that hasn't worked out well for me in the past, but we're nearing the home stretch. I appreciate it! Any tier of patron should be able to access Discord's test area right now. I understand not wanting to use Discord - I didn't use it much myself prior to this - but it (or Slack, or something similar) really are necessary to manage something like this well. I just figured Discord would be a better fit for my playerbase. It's not just getting builds to people, it's making sure that everyone is clear on which version is being tested, the ability to share save files, screenshots, etc, and the ability to know what other testers are saying.

I'm a big gamer Proxxie and I would love to test for you but I don't do Discord and I am a low tier sub. Not trying to be a burden, just giving you a heads up that I am here.

I found that the animations began to become choppy on the map with the gnome when the waves of 'bad rock men' started to show up.
