The Vaccines (Part 1)

In this part, we focus mostly on the history and evidence behind the mRNA covid-19 vaccines. In part 2, we will delve more into the political and ethical issues surrounding this massive vaccination effort.

Some corrections -

Absolute risk reduction is stated by Leila to be 0.7% for Pfizer. It is 0.84% according to a more recent study (linked below). Also, the rate of people are NOT getting hospitalization for covid-19 in all of the clinical trials so far for the placebo arm is over 99% (99.99% is for the earlier Pfizer trial released back in 2020).

Also, AstraZeneca does not contain mRNA, like the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. It injects DNA into cells, where the DNA is converted into RNA. The RNA causes those cells to produce coronavirus spike proteins, as the Pfizer and Moderna shots do. It is also a novel vaccine, and is also authorized for emergency use in Canada, Europe, but not the USA. Sorry for this mistake.

That's so hearwarming to hear Blodwyn. Hang in there, we're all in it together, truly!

Sorry I'm a bit behind, have been ill for a couple of weeks, but thank you for putting this episode together. I'd hoped you would but did not want to ask because I thought you might be tiring of the topic. I work in local government and can sympathize...I'm getting seriously tired of the Covid hysteria, which I get the impression some of my colleagues want to continue indefinitely. I have really appreciated your Covid analysis over the last few months; it has benefited by own mental health no end.

Blodwyn

I'm afraid not, but that would have been a great thing to look into! Perhaps next time!

This was great and it must have been a lot of work to put this together. Thanks heaps for it. Also, for part 2 will you be discussing a bit on the AstraZeneca Brexit debacle? Or to better phrase it the misinformation on AstraZeneca vs Pfizer for political purposes.
