Could you say more about your view of the Republic and perhaps compare the Republic with the Manifesto. I am a Plato scholar and have co-translated the Republic into Danish. When I teach the Republic, students often compare Plato's community of philosopher-kings with communism. What do you think about the similarities? And what is your general view of Plato's understanding of society as seen from a Marxist point of view? I would be very interested to hear about Marx's and Marxists' views on Plato's Republic.
