Weekend Update #9

Hey! Listen!

Just giving a small update on the current progress of the build. I recently realized that I haven't posted Aanya's new design for the 0.02 update so here you go.  As for the current build, its actually going REALLY great. The story triggers for Fiona's story now is going well from start to finish without some of the scenes getting triggered randomly (we'll see on the play testing though). These past 2 weeks for me was primarily coding and rendering new sets of NSFW scenes, specifically, a 'Night' scene and a 'Voyeur' scene. I still need to touch them up and it's pretty straight forward to get them now but that's the thing, I'm racking my brain if I need to create a 'grind' for the players to view them or leave it at that. The things left on my to-do list currently is cleaning the pacing of the story and placing the scenes respectively, the secret gallery and hiding the 'stamp triggers' as what I call them, and just general quality-of-life improvements (highlighted words and such). I can't promise an exact release date but it's close. Anyways, that's that for this weekend update.

Cheers,

Weekend Update #9

Comments

I'd take a look at Depraved Awakening, specifically the early chapters. Except for the first encounter which opens the story, it's possible to miss h-scenes but it's mostly just a matter of choosing the right branch (e.g. winding up with a black eye in an encounter versus not getting hit). "Grind" should, I think, be limited to middle and late game, after you've been playing a while and established relationships with characters (e.g. love points or whatever), and gate scenes based on past actions (told a girl to bugger off? No future love scenes with her.) and the current points (she either likes you enough or doesn't). You can even then gate within scenes e.g. more points gets you choices for a rougher scene, less gets you more vanilla choices. Didn't get a girl's lust up high enough? No butt stuff for you. Thus "grind" becomes more replayability, at the expense of not seeing everything the game has to offer on one given run through. You do need to watch your time allocation, though. As e.g. Twists of My Life, Milfy City, Parental Love players have found, monthly updates then might be boom/bust depending on whether a given update focuses on the girl they're most interested in or not. (The player solution to this is to just have saves on multiple branches, so one of the saves always has a good chunk to play.) Of course, then you can get into polls and further patron interaction. ;-)

Grind is never a good gameplay. If you want people to stay a little longer in your game, make exclusive branching decisions, so that players need to play multiple times to unlock everything. It's better then grind, since you unlock everything by actually playing the game. Not modifying saves, or running third party scripts to grind for you.
