Bonds and Marriage Part One (Alpha 0.1)

Whether forming strong bonds of friendship with your companions, romantic bonds of intimacy, or unbreakable bonds of love in the form of marriage, interpersonal bonds come in a variety of forms in Quests of Change, each offering benefits in gameplay.

Romantic and Platonic Bonds: Throughout your adventures, you may form deep bonds with others. As you spend time and connect with other allied creatures, you and another creature may designate each other as bonded. In order to successfully form this bond, both creatures must willingly agree to its creation. You each designate if this bond is either Romantic or Platonic. While a character can have strong feelings towards as many creatures as they wish, they can mechanically form one bond for every three class levels they have. (This bond can be formed with other player characters or NPCs).

Upon forming this bond, it begins at Bond Level One. Whenever one of the members of this bond performs a noteworthy act in order to help the other character within the bond or the two characters share a strong moment of roleplaying, the GM may cause this bond level to increase. Bonds can gain up to five total levels. When bonded, each creature in the bond gains the following benefits based on the number of Bond Levels they have, retaining the benefits of the previous levels. At any point, any creature within this bond can choose to break it, removing all benefits it provides.

One Level: As long as you and the bonded creature are on adjacent spaces, you each get +1 resolve.

Two Levels: the ranges of your Level One bond ability increases by one space.

Three Levels: The benefit of your Level One bond ability increases to +2 resolve.

Four Levels: Once per day, as long as you're within two spaces of the bonded creature, you can cause an attack to automatically hit.

Five Levels: Once per day, as long as you're adjacent to the bonded creature, if it would take damage, you can instead take that damage.

(If you bonded to several creatures at once, you can only gain the benefits of bond levels one through three from one creature at a time).

Marriage: If you are within a romantic relationship with five bond levels, you and that creature can agree undergo a marriage ritual performed by a creature with at least one level in the priest class. This ritual takes at least thirty minutes (though it can take longer if you wish). Once this ritual concludes, the two creatures within this bond gain the following benefits:

-All rolls you make when you're within two spaces of the bonded creature get a +2 bonus.
-As long as you're within two spaces of the bonded creature, you cannot be charmed or seduced by any creature other than your bonded creature
-You can use your Level Five bond ability a number of times per day equal to your level rather than only once.

You can only gain the benefits of Marriage to one creature at a time.
