Master Of The Brand (Alpha 0.1)

A demonic artisan, a Master of the Brand is a fiend capable of altering a creature's mind based on words and illustrations it may ink or brand upon one's flesh.

Unlike the majority of demons that care only about humiliating, altering, and corrupting the forms of others, a Master of the Brand is sincerely passionate about its craft, caring more about its artistry than the impacts it can have on another creature. Masters of the Brand are adept in artforms such as calligraphy and painting, and are highly regarded for their skill. However, through their infernal corruption, many Masters of the Brand view mortals as little more than potential blank canvases, all of which could be improved with the Master's artwork. This leads to unfortunate situations in which a Master of the Brand may want to bestow its art on another whilst being unaware of the harmful magical side effects this act would have.

If a Master of the Brand inks or brands a word or image into the flesh of a creature, that creature's mind will warp, changing to better incapsulate that image. For example, if images of fine gems are inked into a creature in the form of a tattoo, that creature may find themselves becoming much more spoiled or driven by greed. Particularly spiteful Demons of this type will often try to bring their rivals or foes down a peg by writing or branding blatant insults on the skin of such a creature.

With forms akin to red, horned elves, some Masters of the Brand are cautiously welcomed into mortal societies if they are able to prove they can resist their inherent urge to transform others through their art. Within the Elven city of Luné, several of the most prolific artists displayed within the cities various acclaimed galleries were created by Masters of the Brand.

Despite their status as demons, these creatures are likely to assist others such as adventuring parties if they are able to showcase a passion for the arts, or if a creature agrees to be a potential canvas for a new masterpiece. These creatures are also able to offer their talents to willing creatures, serving as masterful tattoo artists.

Resistances And Weaknesses: The Master of the Brand is Resistant to Dark damage and vulnerable to Light damage

Inventory:

Any one basic one-handed weapon of the silver rank.

One calligraphy pen, paintbrush, tattoo implement, or brand

Attack: The Master of the Brand makes an attack with it's weapon.

Demon Casting: The Master of the Brand knows up to 4 spells from the Arcanist and Spell Artist classes with a total MP cost no greater than 45.

Artistic Reposition: The Master of the Brand can teleport to one space adjacent to a piece of artwork it had created or a creature that is currently marked by its artwork, calligraphy, or brand. Once this ability is used, the Master of the Brand cannot do so again for seven days.

Mark of the Master: The master attempts to mark a creature adjacent to it with an artistic implement or Brand. It makes a melee attack, using 1d8 as an accuracy dice. On  hit, the Master of the Brand chooses one word or small image to mark on the creature's body. If a Brand is used this way, only one pre-selected word or image is used, and the creature sustains 2d8 fire damage. Regardless of the implement used the target gains one personality trait that relates to the word or image the Master of the Brand selects. (The GM selects the Personality trait they think is most fitting.) A creature can gain no more than two personality traits from this ability. If a creature marked by this ability undergoes a Ritual of Purification within the next month, this mark and the newly gained personality trait is removed. If a month passes before a creature with such a mark undergoes a Ritual of Purification, the mark and its corresponding personality trait become permanent.
