Progress Report

Greetings, everyone!

Seven chapters are now done, with only a few remaining. The one that I'm about to start writing will be particularly interesting because it marks the first time in the story that you get to see how the sexy stuff will work and what role it serves in the overall narrative. You don't get all the puzzle pieces right away, but you get enough to understand what the game expects you to do. The story has been very dark and serious up until this point, so the tonal shift should make for some fun writing.

Since last time, I've also come a long way in composing a new musical theme for the VN gameplay sections. I hadn't planned to do this, but once inspiration strikes, it's best to take full advantage of it. And I really do need all the music I can get. Most likely, the first version of the game will lack some music that I had intended to introduce in this version. Instead, I'll use other themes as placeholders and replace them in later versions once the actual music is implemented. It's not a big deal, but it goes to show that we're now getting to the part of development where I can get a better picture of what content I need to cut or delay to get something out there for you to play.

One feature that I'm strongly considering delaying for the sake of keeping progress moving along is the long-planned interactive tutorial for the card game. While it would have been an exciting surprise, especially to those who come into the game as fans of Long Live the Princess (for reasons I don't want to spoil), it's also not important enough that I'm willing to hold back the game's first release just for this. It can safely be added later.

As before, my main priority right now is to get the first draft of the script done so that I can start to create the images and animations and put everything together into one package. That will be the point when I can actually start to show you guys more significant previews. There's only so much I can do with writing and music on their own.

Until next time!
