Progress Report
Added 2023-06-27 17:41:25 +0000 UTCGreetings, everyone!
There's no preview this time. If I keep showing you new cards for every progress report, there won't be any surprises left from the rapidly approaching release of Supermodel Snapshot 2.0. We can't have that. I'll probably preview some other stuff instead, but at least for this week, let's just focus on the progress itself.
And, well, it's been a mixed bag. This kind of thing happens with creative works, and my work has been all about creativity this week. As mentioned in last week's progress report, I had gotten about 2:30 into the new model's musical theme, and... that's roughly where I still was two days ago. I hit the proverbial brick wall. I knew where I wanted the music to end up, but I couldn't find any satisfying way to get there. Again and again, I composed something that didn't feel right, causing me to delete it and start over. This happened so often that the creative spark left me, and I had to take a break.
That break resulted in me composing a brand new track for the full Supermodel: Defenders of Desire. Great news for that game, but not so good for Snapshot, where it is not needed. But at least it allowed me to clear my mind and approach the original track refreshed. That was all it took. The dam finally broke yesterday, and I composed something that sent me smashing through the previously mentioned brick wall. At the time of writing, the track is 3:30 long. I no longer foresee any significant challenges since all I need at this point is to repeat the central theme with slight variations. And, oh boy, it's one hell of a theme. I can't wait to share it once it's done.
And that's all there is to it this week. Musical inspiration is a fickle thing, so I need to stay focused on this until it's done. The sooner I can get it out of the way, the sooner I can add the scenarios and the final touches to Snapshot.
Until next time!
