Progress Report

Greetings, everyone!

Hooray, the card art for all the new cards is finally finished! Phew! The artwork might be small, but it still needs to be created. I prioritized creating my own renders using in-game assets for most of the new stuff. However, I also resorted to AI-generated artwork for some concepts, just like in version 1 of Snapshot.

With the artwork out of the way, I could return to testing, bug fixing, and balancing the new cards. It takes a lot of time to not only put each of these cards in new decks but also to make sure I actually play them once they appear in my hand. Easier said than done, but I have made significant progress. Plenty of bugs have shown up, but that's the entire point. They will be long gone by the time you get your hands on version 2.0... or so I hope.

So far, I have experimented with specialized decks for Skill and Trust cards (separately) and started playing around with a Confidence deck. They sure play differently from the deck in version 1, in a good way. The Skill deck is the most technically challenging but offers many different approaches to victory, all focusing on Challenge cards in some way. The Trust deck was all about drawing cards, leaving me with an abundance of options every turn. Based on its design and what I have playtested so far, the Confidence deck is a big spender in that it allows you to play those truly expensive cards while earning you vast amounts of Heat. I hope that everyone will find a play style they enjoy once they get the opportunity to create their own decks using the new cards. I'm certainly looking forward to what you all come up with.

As for this week's card preview, it's not quite as exciting as last week's. This time, I'm showing off one of the three new common-rarity Attack cards. These are handy when your deck lacks direct damage toward Challenge cards, especially if you focus heavily on one card type. Adding a few Attack cards of a type you're not focused on will help balance out otherwise unbalanced decks. However, it comes at the cost of having these cards take up valuable space in your deck.

The previewed card, "Brief Discussion", is an Attack card dedicated to dealing with Trust Challenge cards. However, it can handle the other categories in a pinch. Each of the three categories has its own common-rarity Attack card like this.

And that's it for this week's progress report. I need to get back to my bug fixing and playtesting.

Until next time!
