There are actually clues about Charlie's eating disorder related to his mental health, scattered throughout the first season and the first few episodes of this season, but they are so well placed that they are not easy to grasp for those who haven't read the comic. We often see Charlie playing with food, like cereal for breakfast, without eating it, he refuses popcorn at the cinema, he tells Tori that he isn't hungry when she offers to make him a pizza, he tells his father that he has already eaten at Nick's but in reality is not true. Whenever a stressful situation arises he tries to "control" his eating. Another clue is also the fact that often, even when he is with Nick, he falls asleep, this is a subtle clue, the drowsiness is determined by weakness due to not eating enough. Alice is really good at tackling such a complicated topic with such precision and delicacy. You'll see as the season continues and especially in the third season... I won't say anything in advance but this situation will affect both of them, but at the same time it will unite them even more, Nick is an exceptional boy who is truly mature for his age!
