I've been tight on money recently but I had to join the patreon again to watch this with you!! Seriously one of my favorite shows of all time, it's just so feel good and sweet I love it so much.

Really truly am excited to rewatch Heartstopper with you and the people here. Super interested to see your reactions and hear your thoughts. If you have any questions about stuff related to English cultural quirks I'd be happy to help. Can't wait for the next one.

StrawberryEyes

This show is so good. I have watched almost every reaction on YT for this show, some were just no. I would say easily 40 times I’ve been through this with Charley.

Hi- so you may have figured it out already but a brief intro to the UK (England ?Wales roughly) school system: Age 4-11 Primary School -- Age 11-16 Secondary/High school -- Age 17-18 Sixth form / College / Apprenticeship (some secondary/high schools have a 'sixth form' which is 17-18 but not all schools). The UK has a National Curriculum that is split into Key Stages. Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2), Key Stage 2 (Year 3-6), Key Stage 3 (Year 7-9), GCSEs (Year 10-11) , A levels (Year 12-13). [Primary School] Age 4-5 Reception Age 5-6 Year 1 Age 6-7 Year 2 Age 7-8 Year 3 Age 8-9 Year 4 Age 9-10 Year 5 Age 10-11 Year 6 [Secondary /High School] Age 11-12 Year 7 Age 12-13 Year 8 Age 13-14 Year 9 Age 14-15 Year 10 (This is Charlie's year) Age 15-16 Year 11 (This is Nick's year) [Sixth form/ College] Age 16-17 Year 12 / Lower Sixth Age 17-18 Year 13 / Upper Sixth A few important points to know are: GCSEs are national exams taken in Year 11 they are marked by external exam boards not teachers. They are formal qualifications and you take around 11 subjects- you study for these exams for Year 10 & 11. Jobs etc. often require an A-C grade in subjects like Maths or English. A levels / College - until recently you officially finished school aged 16 (now you must be in some form of work or education until 18 I think). So the last two years of what would be American High School are very different. If you want to go to university you normally take A levels- academic qualifications. People typically take 3-4 subjects only that they study for 2 years (Year 12 & 13), you usually need 3 grades to get into university. You take A levels either at a College (sometimes known as a Sixth Form college- different from US College/University) or some schools have a Sixth Form. Often Sixth Formers might not have to wear uniform or have slightly different rules and things like free periods or more flexibility in the day. But basically this means at 16 people might choose to move schools or go to a college or start work doing an apprenticeship etc.. (16 is the age of consent and used to be the age you leave the care system, could smoke etc. sort of semi-adulthood. Now it's a little more 18 and 16 is seen a bit less as mini adult.) Tldr info needed for the show: Charlie is a Year 10 (aged 14-15 Freshman), Nick is a Year 11 (aged 15-16 Sophmore). They are both in GCSE years so studying for very big important national exams they take in Year 11. 'Forms' are like homerooms (I think) where you take attendance (registration) etc.. You can leave or move schools at 16- it's not a given everyone will stay if a school has a Year 12 & 13 and you usually have to get certain GCSE grades to get in (Junior and Senior year).

I love this show. It's like my second favorite in the genre. I love the teacher too, he's so nice. My art teacher was a born again Christian who didn't seem to like her job. My high school art teacher was a man with a handlebar mustache and cowboy boots. I think he was straight but I have no idea but now I have questions. Because the more I think about it he was like the only teacher not to talk about a spouse. Interesting. Anyway, great reaction. The boy who plays Ben is a sweetheart, he made himself president of the I hate Ben Hope club.

Just started watching but that is Stephen Fry's voice.
