Announcing my next game: Supermodel - Defenders of Desire

The time has come for me to finally and officially announce the title and theme of the game that I will be working on as Long Live the Princess comes to an end. Below this paragraph is the marketing blurb that I will use initially and a preview of both the playable characters in the game.

Supermodel: Defenders of Desire

Supermodel is the upcoming game from Belle, creator of the well-known erotic fantasy game Long Live the Princess.

Follow the dual stories of Michael Sharpe and Anna Morgenstern as they manage a team of female superheroes under the umbrella of the corporation STALWART, who face an existential threat in modern New York City. This lengthy story will be told in a visual novel format. Supermodel delves into the supernatural to tell a story that goes in a different direction from most superhero stories and has close thematic similarities to Long Live the Princess.

As Michael Sharpe, take charge of STALWART's publicity campaign to turn the tide of public opinion in favor of superheroes after years of negative media attention and growing dissent with superpowers. Photograph STALWART's female superheroes in increasingly sexual poses and situations as they warm up to the idea of exposing themselves in public. Each photography session is represented as an addictive and challenging collectible card game (using in-game currency ONLY. No DLC or paid addons) that can optionally be disabled in its entirety if you would rather have a pure VN experience.

As Anna Morgenstern, investigate a global conspiracy that seems to have taken an unusual interest in ending Michael Sharpe's life. Balance your investigation with the needs of your role as CEO of STALWART, simultaneously dealing with bothersome journalists and hostile politicians, and ultimately trying to keep STALWART and its members alive. Use the presence of Sharpe on the company's premises to awaken your superheroes' sexuality and reap the rewards.

Supermodel will feature high-quality animations and raytraced, pre-rendered 3D graphics that push the limits of currently available consumer technology. Of course, it will also have an exhilarating soundtrack and an interface that works equally well on computers and tablets.

The first version of Supermodel will be released in early access through popular crowdfunding platforms like Patreon and SubscribeStar soon after the final release of Long Live the Princess later this year.

Alongside this post, you will find two character biographies and accompanying teaser pictures. One new such bio will be released every week from now until all the central characters have been introduced. Next week, you will get to meet your first member of STALWART's superhero team. She can't wait to show off her best assets.

Remember, games like these can only be made through the support of generous backers. It is more important than you might think. Thank you!

Hell yeah! Belle is not only a well-known creator but also one of the best in the business with his outstanding story telling and original plots!

I spent a lot more time on every single character model in this game compared to LLtP. Not only did I carefully set up every part of them, but I also made sure they share the same technology base so that I won't get stuck with 3D models with different abilities and limitations like in LLtP. Coming from the visuals in LLtP though, Supermodel is worlds apart in terms of graphics. The new 3D models have an almost ridiculous level of detail. Heck, some of the girls even have peach fuzz. And yes, my experience with LLtP will make Supermodel easier to make. On the other hand, this means that I'm stepping up the overall quality, which takes longer. It becomes a balancing act, but I think it will turn out quite well. I want to make a game that blows you away from the very first scenes and never lets go. LLtP was much more basic in this regard.

Heh. I can still remember when I first saw LLTP, and finally got convinced to become a Patron after playing one of the demos and really digging Primrose. It feels so long ago now. I do hope everything Belle went through creating LLTP makes Defenders of Desire a wee bit easier.

Got to admit if the Superhero models are going to be a hot as Anna looks. am very interested to see how this one develops. Glad to be with you from the start for it, got into LLTP about the halfway point.

I have to say I wasn't super into this game when I first heard about it, but the blurb win me over almost immediately. Can't wait to see how it will turn up.

If there's one thing I don't lack, it's ideas of my own. I don't need to lift them from anyone else unless there's a really good reason to do so. Besides, I have something special in mind for this story that wouldn't fit with most existing superheroes anyway.

There is already plethora of superheroes that are in Open Domain and can be used by anybody. Just a thought.

Sadam

Hahah. Well, I'm eager to see what you come up with. I finally managed to find time to sit down and properly play the newest version of Long Live The Princess, so I can't help but wonder how the experience creating LLTP will help with this new endeavor.

Ai Muhao

I could, though I'm trying to avoid the tropes of traditional superhero stories. Don't expect to see any superheroes or villains who have names starting with "Doctor," "Captain," "Mr," "Super," and so on.

Heh. On the upside, at least now if you need to come up with side characters or background characters and get stuck, there's that "template" option. Like, say, if you want to come up with a military superhero team that gets mentioned but isn't actually story relevant, you can use the "military superhero" template with "Rank" + "Noun" (e.g. Captain America, Captain Atom, Major Victory) to come up with "Lieutenant Lightning" or "Colonel Cloud" or "Sergeant Slaughter". Maybe not that last one.

Ai Muhao

I actually didn't model any of the heroes in this game after existing superheroes, so that kind of approach didn't even enter my mind. Now that I think about it, I have no idea why I didn't. It's maybe not a natural way for me to build characters.

Hahah. True enough. Still, you'll probably be able to come up with some sort of original use for the concepts instead, like how in My Hero Academia the character All-Might is the closest they have to a traditional "flying brick" hero, but he plays up how invincible he is to inspire people and give them hope while in something like Invincible the flying brick hero is pretty terrifying. Even so, at least there's already plenty of potential templates to go with. You might not use a parody version of, say, Spider-Man, but maybe a "young solo hero who's kind of flippant and gets a lot of bad press" character. Kind of like how The Incredibles are based on the Fantastic Four (especially the family aspect) but are very different characters. Either way, that put an end to any consideration I had to end my Patronage once Long Live The Princess was complete. Am looking forward to sticking around!

Ai Muhao

This is not a parody game, so the characters won't be based on ones you know. Of course, since this *is* a superhero game and that genre has been utterly drained of all creativity and every idea over the years, there is no superhero name or concept I could come up with that someone hasn't already used (and abused) before me.

Hou, colour me intrigued. I'm interested to see what kind of characters you come up with, like whether they'd be mashups of pre-existing characters (e.g. Batman + Wolverine = Dark Claw) or if they'd be legally distinct parody versions (e.g. Superb-man, Wonderous Woman) or so on.
