Progress Report

Aaah! Another week has passed already? What's happening? *panics*

My primary focus has been on outlining the story paths through this update. There are tons of them, but what I realized as I mapped them out was that there was very little choice this time around. The way I had set it up, this update would feel quite linear because all the important decisions have been made before this point. I have tried to look at ways to spice that up, but I don't want to go too far. The worst-case scenario would be introducing "gotchas" into the mix. That is a branching situation in which you are given insufficient information to make an informed choice, and yet the wrong choice punishes you. That's a big no-no in my book, but it also means that any choice added to the game needs to be very carefully thought out.

In addition to that, I have been setting up one of the two major new environments in this update. You'll spend the most critical parts of version 0.32 in locations we haven't really seen before, at least according to the current plan (which could change). That means preparing sets, something I luckily don't have to do often. One of those two environments is a bedroom, though, and I'm really starting to run out of those recently. On the other hand, that's the environment I have made sure to build already this week, so that problem is solved.

I suspect progress is going to be very fast once I get past this preparation stage. Still, every puzzle piece needs to be carefully prepared before I can solve the puzzle itself. There's no rushing this.

Until next time!

Oh god, don't compare LLtP with Mass Effect 3, please. :P

As said above,I would even say just adding choices to add choices that might destroy all your hard work and logical endings you made as a player in the whole game would diminish the overall game. Anyone remembers mass effect 3 ending? (original was even worse ....)

I know, and we love you for it :D

I still want to explore the possibilities available to me, even if it turns out to not be viable. I'm a bit of a perfectionist. ;)

I doubt anyone would riot over a more linear update myself, esp as you said, we've made most the decisions goin into endgame

I don't think it's bad or surprising that you would have less big-time decisions in the end-game, I think it's pretty normal that most major decisions would have been made beforehand and now we're reaping the rewards of those decisions. You don't want to add a ton of twists and turns in the end. So I'm really not mad about a more linear update. Alea iacta est.
