Progress Report
Added 2020-06-02 17:34:14 +0000 UTCHi there!
It's the first progress report for version 0.32. How exciting! Actually, not that exciting since I don't have much to share. Anyway, let's get to it.
Getting you version 0.31 before the end of May was the top priority for me last month, so much so that I overworked myself a little. As a result, I've been taking a little breather in the week since its release. Of course, that doesn't mean I haven't been working. In fact, I've made some fun changes that will be coming in this version.
Most noteworthy is that we're getting another iteration of the main menu. That's right, just when you got used to the updated main menu, I'm changing it again. Seriously though, it's only continued development of the theme I set up recently, so it's still the same screen with the same animation of Princess Selena in the foreground. The new thing is that there's also an animated background, showing off the maps. It's something I have wanted to include for a long time to have the main menu shout: "we're off to an adventure!"
This new version of the menu screen is already in the game and fully working, and it looks quite good. Nothing groundbreaking, but still good.
The second thing I've been working on is getting the story straight in my head. Of all the versions we've seen yet, 0.32 is the one that fills me with the most dread. Not because it's difficult, necessarily. It's more about the fact that I'm finally about to pull back the curtains and give you some seriously huge answers and reveals. After building these mysteries up for nearly three years, this moment has a lot of gravitas for me. Above all else, I want to make sure that I get it right, and that's what's giving me dread. I've got most of it figured out, but there are still a few details to nail down. These are specific details, such as camera angles and the timing of essential lines of dialogue. If I get them wrong, I risk ruining the drama.
Once again, you should not expect a new version within a month. In fact, I'd say that's incredibly unrealistic. I'm currently aiming for a July release. Still, if I can't get it to a sufficient level of quality by the end of July, I'm not going to force it out early. I'll keep you updated through these progress reports.
If you've played version 0.31, you probably know that the extra time I dedicated to it paid off. I aim to make 0.32 the single best version update of Long Live the Princess yet, and that can take a little extra time. I want to blow your minds! Uh, figuratively speaking.
And yes, you'll finally confront Princess Selena in this version. No, the story doesn't end quite yet.
Tick, tock.
Until next time!

I greatly enjoyed my first playthrough, I think I'll wait till it's all tied up and polished the next time I play it though, so I don't mind the longer times between updates.
