So, this past weekend, I finished that big scene I've been working on over this month. I've been going over it again and again, wanting to make sure everything is right about it. I don't want to take any chances with such a pivotal moment in the game's story. The perfectionist in me will never be entirely satisfied with it, but I feel like it's done now.
Since that scene took me longer to make than I had expected, I didn't get the time to start work on the additional scene I wanted to add in this version. I'm pushing that one back to next month instead of making a foolhardy attempt to rush it. As a result, I had to find something else to occupy my time with. This turned out far more interesting than I had expected. It allowed me to really dive into some of the aspects of the game that have been neglected for too long, holding it back.
First of all, you can say goodbye to Princess Placeholder, the woman you've seen in the main menu and one of the clues. She's gone now, and she'll never return. What replaces her will have to remain a surprise, but suffice to say, the game looks a lot more professional now. That's useful as we head into the final stretches of the story.
The gallery finally includes a music player, so you can now play any of the musical tracks from the game whenever you feel like it. As long as you've discovered that track in the game itself, that is. They unlock as you come across them.
Apart from that, I've been tweaking a lot of little things to make the game better overall. And I'm not done yet! I've still got some time left before I have to wrap up this update. I want to make the most of it.

You're confused. The titular Princess is still alive and kicking. We're simply talking about the woman you used to see on the title screen, who is NOT the Princess.

2020-03-03 11:12:42 +0000 UTCThe story in LLtP follows a path that I set up before I even rendered the first image for the game. I originally saw this as something that would take me about 1-2 years to finish, but you can add me to the long list of developers who suddenly realized that the project they were working on was way more ambitious and demanding than they thought. The stuff that's going on with the Crone in this update was already planned back when she was first introduced. It simply took me longer to get here than I expected. Luckily, you don't have to wave goodbye to these characters when the story ends. I plan to go back and expand on a lot of the existing content. Some of these expansions you'll see coming. Others will come as a (hopefully) happy surprise. I can't wait.

But Also I appreciate, more than anything, a story with a proper ending instead of a forced lengthy (is this the correct phrase?) what you can see happen to best series that don't know when it's best to put the threads together to a proper end. Happened with The Walking Dead which I very enjoyed but after 3 seasons it felt like they just forced new seasons instead of doing a proper ending the otherwise masterpiece deserved. But I don't have the feeling this will happen to this nice sleuthing and fantasy themed adult visual novel.
