Progress Report and Game Recommendation
Added 2020-01-19 12:07:23 +0000 UTCGood day everyone!
Ah, it's good to make substantial progress without feeling exhausted at the same time. Taking December off really made me feel a lot better, and I think it shows in what I produce.
I finished the first big scene of the update just today, which leaves the rest of the month for me to add something that isn't quite so serious. The finished scene is the end of the Leanan Sídhe's storyline, so it was vital to get it right. I'm excited to see what people will think about that character once this update is out. It could go both ways, I suspect. Also, another character who we don't see all that often will show up in the scene. No, I'm not going to tell you who it is. Not yet, anyway.
Progress report aside, there's something else I wanted to share today, and that is another adult game I recently discovered and really enjoyed playing. I think it's a game that many of you might also enjoy. To be clear, this is not a cross-promotion. In fact, I haven't been in touch with the game's creator at all except for becoming a patron.
The game is called Aurelia and immediately comes off as a breath of fresh air in an industry that can sometimes feel a bit stale and devoid of creativity. Two things, in particular, make this game stand out to me:
- The pixel art. Seriously, go have a look at it. If there's anything else like this in the western adult game market, I haven't seen it. The art is gorgeous and, dare I say it, sexy.
- The engine. The creator went with GameMaker Studio instead of the more common choices like RPG Maker or Ren'py (which is what I use). This makes the presentation feel way more original instead of coming off as "just another Ren'py game." This has inspired me to begin learning the engine myself in case I can get some use out of it for other games down the line.
Anyway, I recommend you check this game out if you're looking for something to tide you over between updates of Long Live the Princess. You can find the game's Patreon here.
Until next time!

Interesting. Was it just random that you stumbled upon LLtP after Aurelia as part of looking for other games, or was it recommended by someone? I'm always curious to know how people discover my game.
2020-01-23 16:38:48 +0000 UTCOddly enough, Aurelia was the first game like this I came across a year or so ago and it led me to your game. Yours is still probably still my favorite of all the adult games I've played since getting into them, first one I became a patron of too.

2020-01-20 17:08:23 +0000 UTCI've never heard of it before, but who knows?
2020-01-19 17:45:21 +0000 UTCArt will always divide people, so it comes down to opinion. Personally, I find *good* pixel art to be extremely appealing, and Aurelia's art is definitely that. I'm really impressed with it.
2020-01-19 17:44:07 +0000 UTCAgreed that Aurelia's visual aesthetic is very good. In terms of RPGM and RenPy alternatives I often wonder whether Godot, which, like RenPy, is FOSS, is the next interesting choice to consider.

2020-01-19 16:41:24 +0000 UTCPixel art in games for PC should burn in hell nowadays =/ Game is either look horribly on modern monitors or you're forced to stare into tiny window (as 1080p is mostly bare minimum now) and it will damage your eyesight (plus it's annoying).
