Progress Report
Added 2019-11-19 12:08:06 +0000 UTCHi everyone!
Well, that was a fascinating week. The Patreon campaign experienced a massive growth burst that has persisted over the entire week (no changes on the SubscribeStar page, which isn't nearly as popular). Long Live the Princess has had slow and steady growth over the past year, but what we've seen this past week is about 50% of the growth we had for that entire year! Wherever all these new patrons came from, wherever you discovered LLtP, thank you! And welcome!
I really should get rid of the $5000 goal (dedicated rendering computer) for the campaign now that it looks like we're actually climbing closer to it. I don't really need a separate rendering computer anymore because of improvements to both the software and hardware that I use. Rendering is no longer the bottleneck for LLtP development. The question is, what do I replace that goal with? And how do I meaningfully combine SubscribeStar and Patreon for any new goals? Questions, questions...
Maybe I should have the $5000 goal be that I make another game after this one? I still haven't decided whether or not I actually want to make anything else after this, but reaching that level of funding would definitely convince me. I'd like to hear what you all think I should aim for and why. And just to be clear about what another game means, it would definitely not be a sequel to LLtP. It would be its entirely own thing, probably with a very different focus and setting.
As for my own progress this week, I'm still hammering away at Primrose's dark secret. The issues I struggled with last month aren't entirely gone, I've come to notice, but I'm taking one step at a time. The secret is mostly written, and all the relevant renders are complete. Now I just have to glue it all together with code. I'm about halfway done with that.
Looking at the speculation about what Primrose's dark secret could be, it seems many of you will be quite surprised. It is not what most people think it is.
Anyway, that's all I have to share right now. I should hopefully have Primrose's content wrapped up by next week, but I'm not going to count my chickens until they hatch.
Until next time!

Thanks! I'm not jumping ship to do another project until LLtP is finished, just to be perfectly clear. I'm not one of the devs who don't have the focus or stamina to finish what they have started. While I have ideas for another game after this, it's completely off the table until LLtP is complete.
2019-11-26 09:09:39 +0000 UTCI agree with Anonymous010. I think you know it yourself best, according the self-reflection in your post. Whatever you decide it will be the right thing. Be it a vacation, be it a fresh new game with different characters, different setting. A pause can be good to collect new ideas for a possible new project, whatever that will be or when. Take your time. And be proud that you created an original fairy with Belle. Her dialogues making me grin here and there. And also that you created a not so common approach in creating an adult novel with elements of mystery and sleuthing. I wish ya sucess!

2019-11-21 19:09:21 +0000 UTCYou know, I'm seriously starting to consider an actual vacation, or at least some time off, in the near future, stretch goal or not. I need to give it some more thought, but it might be the best choice for the game's continued quality.
2019-11-21 10:43:17 +0000 UTCI'm glad to read pretty much all of this. It seems like you have a really good handle on it.

2019-11-21 04:48:46 +0000 UTCThis game is great, and you should definitely continue making games when you've "Completed" this game. Don't work so hard that you get burned out though. Maybe the $5000 goal is you take a vacation? :D

2019-11-20 19:18:38 +0000 UTCI'm flattered.
2019-11-20 14:06:28 +0000 UTCJust like to say thank you for your time, effort and thought that was put into this game. Joined 24 hours ago. It seems your the Tolkien of this type of gaming.
2019-11-20 14:03:12 +0000 UTCThe upcoming Primrose content isn't anything massive, keep in mind. We're just adding a secret and dealing with the immediate, sexual consequences. More on that later. ;)
2019-11-20 08:45:41 +0000 UTCI am super excited for this update. I feel like we have been starved for Prim content for a long time. This, coupled with your other recent post about moving towards the endgame in the imminent future, has me super excited for the next few months. Concerning a future game, based on what you have put out of the last two years, with an almost clockwork regularity, has me confident about any future projects you create. I will definitely keep my pledge active if you can produce another game even half the quality of LLtP.

2019-11-20 08:43:11 +0000 UTCOf course! I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said and have already considered all of these points. To be clear, I would never make anything like this "for the money." The money is a nice bonus, but it's my creator's drive that is my true motivation behind all this. That's why you don't see me doing cross shoutouts with other creators, for example. It would probably increase my earnings by a lot, but I'd have to sacrifice part of what inspired me to start this side job to begin with. I am aware of the pressure I put myself through to push out LLtP's monthly updates, and this is something I would change for my next game, if any. It would also have a different focus that emphasizes the things that stress me out the least while diminishing the parts that cause me to struggle the most. It would also have a different update schedule. I'm not blind to the useful experience LLtP's development has given me. A new game would be far less ambitious than LLtP while still having room to grow for a long time if it is well received. I have a design document for such a game already, so I'm ahead of the curve here. :) Any decision to move ahead with a different project after this one would always be up to me in the end, and I know what I would be walking into. The reason I aired the possibility of a stretch goal to make me commit to such a decision is that this kind of vote of confidence would convince me that it's worth doing for more people than just myself.
2019-11-20 07:20:24 +0000 UTCThis is kind of what I would do, actually. There is a lot to flesh out in LLtP still, including a stretch goal that I have committed to after we hit $3500, one that will allow players to dive into side stories and see things from different perspectives in the LLtP world. I do want to eventually close LLtP's development and consider it entirely finished, however, and hopefully before I release the first version of whatever I make next, if anything. It's likely that I'll have a bit of development overlap so that I can provide things people want while warming them up to what is to come. More on this at a later date.
2019-11-20 07:11:53 +0000 UTCThank you. Anything I make after this will be built with my experiences from LLtP in mind, allowing me to tone down the parts that I know add to my stress levels while focusing more on the parts that I find relaxing. Inspiration is, thankfully, a commodity I never seem to run out of. :)
2019-11-20 07:09:19 +0000 UTCWould I like to see another game made by you? Maybe. It really depends on the game you decide to make. Considering that I've liked LLtP so far, I'd probably be more willing to try it even if I didn't think I'd like it based on a description. Now, having said that, if you really want my opinion on whether or not you should do another game, I would say that is a decision that you should make for yourself, regardless of what we want. I say that for multiple reasons: first, when a creator's heart just isn't in it (or if they're only doing it for the money), you can typically see that reflected in the quality. Second, just from reading your progress reports here, it seems you tend to run yourself a little bit ragged sometimes to make your monthly deadlines. It's a respectable work ethic to be sure (and I understand that there's a desire amongst decent patreon creators to avoid being seen as milking patrons, which is, again, respectable), but I'm also sure none of us wants you to suffer just for our entertainment. Third, and also related to the second point - there's ambition. Would you want your next game (whatever it is) to be bigger and better than LLtP? If so, do you think you could handle the increased monthly workload? I don't want to sound like I'm trying to talk you out of doing another game - I'm not. Well, sort of, but not really. I'm just playing devil's advocate, because most comments I see are for it (one-sided things tend to automatically trigger my DA response) and I truly do think that this is a decision that you should make for yourself.

2019-11-20 06:17:54 +0000 UTCPeople that are joining because of LLtP should, IMHO, be rewarded with LLtP-related rewards. I get that you freakin' need a break from the game after all that time, of course. So, a suggestion: A great reward might be that, after a suitable pause (a few weeks of "paid vacation", or maybe 2-6 months to plan + get launched on your new project) you'd pledge to revisit LLtP and add some fun content. Maybe not *quite* fan service, but good smutty stuff. Expand the scenes with the existing girls-- a few new positions would be amazing. Maybe some exploration of Prim's family life, a flashback sequence or two, maybe a new spell that lets you do some x-ray vision type action, extra poses in existing lewd scenes, animate stuff that's static, give Belle another pixie to play with, etc. Things that wouldn't budge the story but would scratch some of our collective pervert-itches. *That* is something that I think would be a great reward for your loyal fans. And I'd bet after a while you might actually like the idea of revisiting your old game and fleshing it out a bit.

2019-11-20 04:18:12 +0000 UTClove your work! i enjoy figuring out hints and unlocks. i enjoy the story of everyone. really fits the universe. your an awesome writer.
2019-11-20 02:52:31 +0000 UTCYou obviously have a talent for writing games, it would be a waste if you did not continue. You might need some recharge time after LLTP, to gather inspiration. Maybe deal with a different time period or world build the LLTP universe. You have a lot of potential material from what I have seen.
