Progress Report

As I write this, I've just finished implementing and testing the first scene in this update, and another one is likely to follow, either today or tomorrow. Once that is done, I'll be diving into the real meat of version 0.20.
Last week I told you that I'd be sitting down to write an outline of where we were heading. That didn't go as well as I had thought. The story I wanted to write just didn't click with me. One of the tricky things with creative work is to find that certain "spark" that comes with inspiration, that single moment that tells you that you're on the right path towards something special. While I had a finished outline of what I wanted to do with one of the game's characters, I couldn't give it that spark. In cases like that, I would rather just let it stay in the oven for a little longer instead of trying to push it out the door prematurely.
Luckily, that story was just one of the two I have planned for the upcoming versions, so I instead went straight ahead with the other one, and I've definitely caught a spark of inspiration there. I can really tell at this point that we've moved into the climax of many of the game's stories. So much of the stuff that has only been teased before can now truly peak, and that excites me as a developer. This game has been under development for more than 1 1/2 years now, so it's incredibly satisfying to see storylines come together like this.
The two scenes I've been working on so far (both of which are gallery scenes) feature the Fairy Queen and the Leanan Sídhe respectively. They have been out of the spotlight for a while, so getting back to them is fun. The Leanan Sídhe never really was in the spotlight, to begin with, but she has a hugely important role to play in this story so she couldn't be held off forever. She's a fun character to write because of the contrast between sexy and creepy that she conveys. Grandmaster patrons can look forward to a teaser preview of her new scene shortly.
Well then, that's enough teasing for now. Gotta get back to work.

She was always intended to have sex scenes, so it was only natural to put her name in the gallery when I built it, even if I had nothing to add for her at the time. Her gallery will no longer be empty in 0.20.0, however. ;)
2019-04-23 19:16:29 +0000 UTCI was expecting something from the Leanan Sídhe due to her name be in the gallery. Always thought it was an Easter egg or some secret scene.
