Progress Report

First things first: I'm done with Callie's night scene (up to Agility 5 and Perversity 5, that is). I would say it's slightly more complicated than Evelyn's, but otherwise pretty similar, with a few new touches that you haven't seen in the other scenes so far. Creating this scene was incredibly time-consuming, so much so that I'm glad that there aren't any new such scenes waiting for me in the near future outside of smaller additions to Nell and Samarra's. There are more in the distant future, but nothing that stands in the way of the main story or other, meaningful content.

I now have roughly 1 1/2 weeks left to finish this update, and it would be a shame if the night scene were all there was in it. I'm hoping to add some other minor features, but keep in mind that I'm going to be with my family for several of the upcoming days, so I'm going to lose some of the time that would otherwise be available to me.

I'd like to use this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas, or at least happy holidays. It's the second Christmas season this game's development has seen, which feels like a formidable achievement. Development started in August of last year, which means we're roughly 1 year and 4 months in. That's a lot of time and a lot of work, but it has shown results. My image folder for LLtP currently counts 1750 renders, and that number is only going to keep increasing.

I'll be back with another progress update in about a week. Until then, have a wonderful holiday everyone!

An awesome problem to have :)

If I had infinite time, I might consider it. As it is, I've got more than enough (way more) to add already. I haven't even begun to add Side Stories, which is a little like what you're talking about.

Merry Christmas enjoy your time off

Apologies. I carefully avoided being overly graphic in the initial post, then slipped in the reply. Edited. I was imagining dream-spying as essentially an additional option in the sleep scenes, with zero storyline impact. In the future when the MC learns the spell you could revisit the sleeper scenes and be rewarded with a bit of new content. Mainly though it would let you have some fun setting up vignettes of characters doing things that just have no reason to happen in the story. Might be the kind of feature that could be added at a much later date. Spending a few months <strike>milking the donors while you get started on your next project</strike> adding fan-service content to a completed game is an established and honorable tradition in Patreon, after all.

Could I ask you to refer to these scenes as "night scenes" when discussing them in Patreon posts? Better safe than sorry, in my experience. :) As for using them for other purposes in the game, that was never really the intention with them. They are meant to be completely optional such that a player can completely ignore them and not suffer any negative consequences in the game. There is one situation in which they help you improve Perversity right now, but I'm going to add a way to get that for those who steer away from these scenes as well.

That's an interesting idea. You could create a lot of branching paths if you could "adjust" the girls in their sleep, but a "read-only" dream-spying spell would be a lot of fun. Good excuse to create renders of the various girls doing odd things that would not normally occur in-game.

If you still do want to use them why not add a dreamscping spell. You know the one that gives them wet dreams getting them horny for the next day would probably allow for some interesting secrets to come to light if not something naughty

Ah, cool, that explains a bit. Lots of games have night scenes, but I can't think of any one besides LLtP that actually seems to treat them like a serious feature. They're typically done as simple throwaways with little branching and poorly-posed CGs. High quality scenes of this sort are definitely something that makes this game stand apart from the crowd a bit.

The idea I had before I made this game was for a game exclusively focused on those kinds of scenes, and once I discarded that idea, I still wanted to keep parts of it. That's why it has such a focus. Still, I had never intended for them to take up so much of my time, but it just goes to show how easy it is to underestimate workloads.

Pretty much everyone gives a smaller-than-usual release this time of year, don't sweat it. Better to have less content than to have it be a buggy mess because you lacked time for debugging and polishing. I'm kind of mixed on the night scenes. I enjoy them, but since they don't really advance the plot they are probably relatively low bang-for-the-buck compared to other sorts of content. On the other hand, robust and well-posed, well-rendered sleeper scenes have kind of become a signature feature in LLtP so I'd hate for them to get lower priority. I think you're doing a good job with the balance here.
