Progress Report

If you've played version 0.15.0, you probably already know one of the new features that you'll see in the upcoming 0.16.0, namely Callie's night scene. This is what I've been working on so far. It's probably going to occupy the majority of my development time for this month, but I've been making good time, so we'll see. These night scenes feature a lot of images and complicated spaghetti code, so they take quite a bit of effort to create. Luckily, I've made good progress with renders already, which means it's (mostly) a case of writing code and dialogue at this point.
In one way, creating new night scenes is a little boring since it's basically a retread of content we've already seen for other girls. That's why I try to mix things up a little. Samarra and Nell have an entirely different mechanic for their night scene (one that I'm going to refine a little when I return to it). Callie's scene is more like Evelyn's and Primrose's in how it's structured, but I've added something a little different to spice things up and stop it from being too predictable. I'm also trying a different technique for rendering scenes with nighttime lighting, and the results are interesting. I'm thrilled to have a new graphics card now. It allows me to churn out large amounts of renders in a much shorter time than before. This has let me turn up the rendering quality for certain scenes. For example, the scene between Callie and Sister Agnes in 0.15.0 would have been far more grainy if I had rendered it on my old card.
Well, that's it for now. I've got renders to render, writing to write, and code to, uh... code. Look for another update next week.
