I get what you are saying but it’s really all subjective, the people in the grounds opinions were what counted at the end of the day. I liked each performance and everyone is talented. My favorite was say my name, but I think each performance was worthy so I’m not mad at whomever won.

2023-08-01 23:26:34 +0000 UTCMy favorite performance was especially say my name because I really like the song and I still listen to it now but my favorites were also supercharger and en garde. I think I'm one of the only people who wasn't particularly shocked or anything by over me even though the performance was really good, especially the dance break in my opinion. Supercharger gave me a lot of chills and goosebumps and I was so proud of them, as for say my name I thought they were the ones who interpreted their song the best, everything was perfect.

I don't think it's grammatically correct or makes any sense, which makes me kind of sad because I love the song. I assumed they meant "you changed" or "you made me change" but it's just very bizzare lyrics haha

I hope you predict your top 9 before the finale episode hehe Just wanted to add that Matthew is Korean but was raised in Canada so his Korean is not the best. I think some foreign trainees like Jay speak better Korean than him 😅 which is why he was just saying “dadada” during the assessment with the mentors since he couldn’t learn all the Korean parts by then. I think that also added to his frustration since he needed to memorize new korean lyrics. Jay getting last place was so disappointing since you could here him adlibing all through out the end of the song but sadly during this time Jay had a lot of haters in Korea because he didn’t fit the Korean beauty standard. This is something that a lot of half white idols face like Somi who was bullied when she was younger. Jay is also part Filipino and from what I here they’re not really particularly liked by some Koreans. This is not to generalize all Koreans but just based on the experiences shared by some south east asians who lived in Korea.

2023-07-24 17:57:29 +0000 UTCit’s interesting you mentioned about the ‘sexy’ concept tending to win which has been the case for most other seasons, except girls planet where fans were not the ones picking winners (due to covid they couldn’t have an audience) but it was in fact the judges (some of which are on boys planet) and i do think had they had say in the winner, it would’ve been ‘en garde’ or ‘say my name’ there’s some really weird scamble of the performances but ‘en garde’ performed last on the day, hence them calling it the ‘best performance of the night’ and it actually meaning something. (from what i can remember supercharger or switch were first) also, i’ve binged through these and saw you had a oneus sweater and i don’t know if anyone’s mentioned it but seunghwan (dude with the big high-note in en garde) was actually one of their backup dancers during their us tour. ☺️

2023-07-22 20:55:51 +0000 UTCIf I were looking solely at the performance and didn't have the backstory, I also don't think I would have picked Supercharger... but for me, I think it's also that the song isn't one of my favourites either, I prefer Over Me as a song... and honestly, the recorded version is so good! Interesting to note that Say My Name was the only song from this to chart on Korean music charts (which is notoriously hard for boy groups), so definitely played into the local tastes. Actually, in terms of the quality of performance Say My Name and En Garde were definitely the best for me, even though cute concepts are also not my favourite. I think your point about the 'sexy' performance winning has a lot of merit - as far as I know, in previous versions/seasons of the show that type of song has often won or been the fan favourite. I don't know how I feel about that either as... I did like the song, but just thinking that some of these guys are still underage and having people obsess with them in that context is just weird. I'm really enjoying going back and rewatching this alongside you, especially as I've been following the debuted group... Just noticing things about them and their interactions that I didn't before is very fun.

2023-07-19 22:41:50 +0000 UTCAudio has been pretty scuffed in reuploads on Viki. Sadly its particularly bad in finale episode (still watchable obv). Idk if other platforms have it better. I loved En Garde but Im no mad Over Me won, as u said yourself, they all worked hard. And the audience that voted there just had these few minutes of each performance as a reference, they dont see the struggle and growth as we do. So exciting, u have only 2 episodes left! But since u said last one will be cut in half (which I get, its really long), will you still release it over 2 weeks? Finale has A LOT of downtime (like in between announcing ranks mnet takes 3-5 business days...). There is also 1h long episode 13 with the debuting trainees - summarizing their journey through BP and bonding as a group. Do you think you will be doing some reactions to the debuted group? They been smashing tbh

My personal fave performances were say my name and over me, but my opinion is def a bit biased as some of my faves were on those teams. also i can't wait for you to finish this show and get your thoughts on the final line-up!
