Progress Report and Patreon Update

Progress Report

This will be the final progress report for version 0.12.0, which is right around the corner.

I've finished writing, implementing and testing one out of the four new scenes in this update since last time. This might not sound like much, but the scene I have finished is by far the most complex and involved one. The rest will be much faster and more straightforward, and I also have the entire weekend to work on them. Expect to see the new version at the very beginning of September. I'm aiming to have it out no later than the 3rd, though I obviously can't make any guarantees, particularly since it seems like I'm about to come down with some kind of cold.

Patreon Update

I received an email from Patreon yesterday about a change they've made that could cause trouble with this month's charges. You might recall that there were a lot of problems with declined charges last month because Patreon changed the banks they were using, causing a whole bunch of fraud warnings.

Well, it looks like those of us with adult Patreon campaigns might see a repeat of that this month too, but that should hopefully be the end of it. Patreon appears to be transitioning to a UK-based bank for adult creators so that they can keep supporting us on their platform. This could theoretically cause similar problems as last month, but hopefully not. At least this development indicates that Patreon is putting in real effort to support adult creators and hopefully even get away from some of the censorship imposed on them by companies like PayPal.

Regardless, here's what Patreon has to say about what you can do if this happens to you, and what they'll do on their side to help. As for myself, I have absolutely no control over any of this. All I can do is cross my fingers and hope for the best. My apologies to any of my patrons who this might affect.

All the following text is directly from Patreon:

If your patrons are having any trouble, here’s what they can do:

  1. If their bank suspects that the Patreon payment is fraudulent, a patron can call up their bank to confirm the payment is theirs and genuine.
  2. If their payment failed, they can follow these steps or switch to a different payment method.
  3. If they are seeing an international processing fee, they can switch their pledge to a different bank that doesn’t charge for international payments.
  4. They can reach out to the Patreon support team to get account specific help.

Here’s what we’ll be doing:

  1. We’ll reach out via email to any patron who receives a “declined” payment with info on what they can do and how.
  2. We will continue Patreon’s proactive practice of retrying payments throughout the month.

Comments

Response to fire dragon have figured it all out and finished version 12 very entertaining and creative and great overall work

You have to use your magic to convince Samarra of the shapeshifting culprit, just telling her about the clues without help of your spells doesn't work (though I don't really see why that would be a "secret" - it doesn't seem to be connected to her in any way...). Maybe we'll find out later why Samarra tries to hide the whole shapeshifting assassin angle (she suspects someone? she doesn't want anyone to know there's one running around?)

Firedragon

Yes, there are quite a few "not included in this version" messages, though the framework is usually already there (e.g. the dark secrets of Primrose and Evelyn).

Firedragon

Or a growth spell... ;-)

Firedragon

this is the wizard.....ok...have submitted every clue as to the suspect to samara in her tent..no go...have donated 10 bucks per month for you to continue your great work on patreon..thanks for the direction anyways...ciao

You need to present all your findings to Samarra. There are three clues she will need before she gives you one in return. Once that happens, you have what you need to break Primrose's large secret, which in turn opens up investigation opportunities to find the remaining clues needed to break Samarra's large secret. Your description makes it a little hard for me to understand exactly where you are and what you're doing, so I can't be any more specific, sorry. By the way, what's that about itch.io? I've never put my game on that site.

im sorry ...i think i am at the end

sorry for the spoiler everyone..this is one game i want to wrap up

dear belle...primrose is in jail...i have moved through 3 of the important clues with success...18 to choose from to force her to reveal her own suspicion....you are missing the last clue or have not provided it for some reason..the other clues take her out of her trance...why....i tried them all...and yes i know that increases her resistance..i dont have 20 hours to go through a guessing game...where is the final clue...i went through he is bankrupt...book on poison and you have the keys...i have corrupted 5 of the 6 individuals....lady by the river...no such luck...where do i find the final clue..it is not there...incidentally...you have been sponsored in itch.io and patreon...your assistance would be appreciated

I have designed the game in such a way that this shouldn't be necessary. Or at least, I sure hope so. Your "quest guide" is the clue list (and inventory, to a limited degree). If you don't know what to do, you can usually look at these for a hint. The challenge is that these quests are often not finished at this point in the game, making it hard to know when you've reached the end of some content and when you haven't. I believe the river encounter you refer to has a message explicitly pointing out that you've reached the end of the storyline in the current version, but I might be wrong.

I love the clothes and dresses. Medieval stuff very very very nice!

And perhaps a sort of hint system that at least shows if you have open quests or something. I'm not sure what to do after river encounter...

No doubt. :P

A Shrink spell would be nice... ;-)
