Final Progress Report for 0.5

This has been a tough month for Long Live the Princess. I have had to suffer through a large number of personal commitments that have sucked my spare time dry, leaving me with far less time to work on the game than I would have liked. Generally, my best and most productive work is done on the weekends, and I've lost 3 out of 4 this month. Luckily, this is a freak occurrence. February looks completely open, so I'm expecting to be far more productive then.

Still, it's not all bad news. I have made more renders since 0.4 than I've done with any previous update. I have passed 150 brand new renders, though far from all of them will be included in 0.5. Some are going to be used for future scenes, but I render them now because it makes my job easier for later updates.

Anyway, to be more specific, since the last update I have focused on agility training level 3. It's a moderately big scene with lots of complicated poses and scenery changes, so it has taken me quite a while to get right. It's almost finished though. I played through most of it yesterday.

Expect 0.5 next week. It's not going to push the story forward much, but it will feature some very nice expansions to existing content and should let us wrap up agility training for the time being. After that, I plan to continue expanding the story and the detective aspects of the game. Stay tuned.

Amen to that. It's why I do my dev updates on Sundays because those two days are by far my most productive. As for the monthly release bit I don't mind if a dev doesn't deliver each month but at the same time I totally get where Blackhalo is coming from. That's why I am trying my best to keeping to one update per month.

I'm more likely to take the occasional weekday evening off. Working on LLtP on the weekends is enjoyable and relaxing most of the time, to a large degree because I'm not doing it directly after an 8-hour workday at my main job. I love the feeling of making massive progress over a weekend.

Oh don't get me wrong I wouldn't want you to reduce the release frequency, I just mean if you need to take Saturdays to rest and that means a little less content each month, I'd be ok with that in order to see the quality stay high.

I agree, Blackhalo. The Patreon model works best with monthly releases, even if it can be hell for the developers sometimes. I have no intention of moving away from the monthly release model. Expect one release per month, even if the scope of each update might vary depending on whether it has been a good month or not.

I guess I am of a different mind than FF2Me I feel that a monthly release, is paramount for both keeping patrons and attracting new ones, no matter how big (or small) that release might end up being. My view is that if my CC is going to get charged, something, anything, should be delivered. Now if you were on a per release billing plan, my view would of course be different.

Fine fine, you're a grown up I know :P . Just pls don't forget what happens when you burn the candle at both ends, lol. :)

Thanks for the kind words. It's not time off I need right now. It's rather time *on*. I want to keep working on the game, but there have been too many commitments elsewhere recently for me to do that. After this weekend, however, things should be returning to normal and I can fully focus on LLtP again. Don't get me wrong, I've done a ton of work for 0.5, but both due to the nature of the update and the lack of available time in January, it's going to feel less substantial than you're used to so far.

Lovely news, thank you! Though, and I dare say I don't speak for everyone; as much as I look forward to being able to play each release I'd just assume see it get finished in good time not in record-making-the-Dev-burn-out-time! So if you need a few days off, I think it would be good for the game long term. As always, love your work! But I CAN wait for more, LOL.
