We reached $500!

We did it! We hit our first goal of $500 and it's all thanks to you, my wonderful patrons.

This has been an incredible weekend for the Long Live the Princess Patreon campaign, and I couldn't be more happy about it. Now that we've hit this goal, I want to reassure you all that I'm fully committed to taking this game all the way to the finish line.

Let's see if we can hit the next goal too. I have expanded it to include the licensing of music for the game, so if we hit $1000, LLtP will begin to feature actual sound. Licensed music can be expensive, but that won't stop me from paying for the right music for the job. And if we should manage to hit $2000, I will expand the game scope dramatically to include the Fey Court subplot, which I'm really itching to do.

Thank you, everyone! From the bottom of my heart. This journey has just begun, but what a beginning it has been.

ok thx will wait and see if it gets sorted out.

That sucks. I've never heard of anyone running into a problem like this before, so I have no idea what could be wrong.

Still cant download and crew are on holiday til 24 so will have to wait.

FYI, it shouldn't cause any problems to try again if you wish to. This campaign currently doesn't withdraw any money from patrons until the beginning of the month. Otherwise, I hope it gets resolved for you.

ok thx will try to contact crew

I haven't received any emails about you pledging either, so it must not have gone through. Maybe you should try again? If not, you'll have to talk to the Patreon crew. I sadly cannot help you with this problem, as much as I might want to.

I have just become a 5 dollar patreon but my profile does not show my pledge also i cannot download latest version of the game.

Agreed. The game over I suggested was simply because I like to imagine doing something outlandish just to do it, not because I want it to be my actual story. Ever wanted to just smack a hoe but you couldn't because of the consequences? Shit like that. xD

I like the way you think, though you're overestimating Belle's size. Even the MC's little finger would be too big for her. Stay tuned for more Belle content in version 0.3. :)

I don't see how that would be any fun to play, though. As a game designer, I lean much more towards rewarding success than punishing failure. That the player doesn't achieve what he's trying to achieve should be punishment enough, in my opinion.

I know I'm a weird person, but that foul-mouthed pixie in the game makes me want to see her hugging the MC's dick helping him masturbate... or taking a ride on his little finger or something like that... I can only hope she has some dark secrets that make her controllable too ;)

Well, maybe not "instant game over" but instead a heavy penalty statswise?

Maik Decker

You probably would be horrified by my mass of saves then. xD

I'm glad you liked it. :) I know choices that lead to instant game overs are a staple of visual novels, but I'm not really a big fan of them. They don't really add any gameplay or challenge, and they encourage save scumming, which is something I want to avoid. For those reasons, it's unlikely that I'll add them to the game, but you never know.

Just tried the recent public version. I really like the game and where it is going. Especially if you add replay value to it. I love everything about it so far. Perhaps you could add some game over scenarios though? Like, what if I chose to not run away when they start waking up. And ya know. It lead to a game over, but I had my moment of fun. >:D

I won't consider music that isn't royalty-free, but I suspect that's not what you meant. Royalties means paying based on the number of sales or income earned. You're probably referring to licensed vs public domain. I am open to both but would prefer to go for licensed if I have a choice. By using public domain music there is a much greater risk that I'll use music that is also used for some other, more well-known, game/movie/whatever. Licensing music likely means a reduced chance that something like that will happen. I might even end up composing all or some of the music myself if I feel like none of the music I find is appropriate.

I'm sure you've already considered it, but what about royalty free music? Given that it seems to be a low priority asset and not essential to the narrative, maybe there are viable options there.

Congratulations for your hard work deserve it.

I want the music to be part of the game's identity, so I'd rather do it right the first time around. I did consider the option you mention, but decided against it.

Personally I'd see what I can find in the public domain, and upgrade it later if you have money rolling around needing a home.

I usually do the same thing (or at least turn down the volume), but at some point I'm going to have to introduce sound and music to avoid having it appear amateurish. It's been a low priority for the reasons you mention.

Congratulations on the milestone! Not sure how many people I am speaking for, but the first thing I do on every H-game is max out the text speed and mute the background music. I usually have other music playing, and if I leave the game in the backgound I don't like having my computer making strange noises at me.

Congrats bud!

YES! This game is worth it. At first I was meh based on the images on the page but the demo sucked me (lel). Not usually a fan of VNs but this one looks like it'll be great! Best of luck!

ThatPatronDude

Thats great Belle good work! I can tell a lot of love goes into your game. Best of luck with development in the future!
