Wow, Jay Chang's first comeback mini album "Neighborhood" just came out and the words that come to mind are Quality, Soul, Vocal Tone, Playfulness, and Throwback. Every song is an experience. 1. Title Track: Lasalle Ave has a funk, light gospel choir, throwback R&B groove feeling that would sound great with a live band (MV released) 2. Four Season -- a blues inspired song Jay wrote after his troubling early experience with Entertainment companies and netizen culture, when he finally decided to find a way to continue his music journey, has a similar vibe to Gravity by John Mayer. Jay's goal was to have the studio sound capture as much of the vibe of a live band experience as it can. 3. What You Need (feat. TAG rap) -- a jazzy Bruno Mars influenced pop sound but with a fresh feel. As expected, great vocal inflections, vocal tones, runs and ad libs. Had some unexpected transitions that I loved. An MV or Special Clip is expected for this one soon. 4. Paper Cut -- in a way it's my favorite song because of it's vulnerability and straight talk. Honest. Love the simpler production in contrast to other songs on the album. Wonderful tones and vocal range is a focus stealer.

Interesting (good) comebacks this week: (1) Moon Jong Up(문종업) 'Love Bomber' MV (4K) (ENG/CHN/JPN) -- Emotive visuals and vocals that have elevated since his last MVs. Overall a totally different vibe for Moon Jong Up - watch until the end for a glow up! (2) ONE PACT 원팩트 'DESERVED' MV -- really pretty vocals and visuals, strong face cards, and unique and refreshing house + garage funk synth vibe. Still without Jay because he was on a global tour with B.D.U at taping. ARrC also came out recently with their official debut 'Sour and Sweet' (didn't know at first that Dummy was a pre-debut MV). Sour and Sweet is a different vibe (BoyNextDoor meets P1Harmony during a juvenile NCT Dream). It has off-beat charm with some interesting change ups, but still really good (love the chorus). The MV and many live shows are out, but what I really loved -- and seriously showcased their personalities again -- was a RelayDance video that just came out! They were creative in the relay, hard hitting but still kept the hip hop vibe while killing some adlib choreo... Really Enjoyed NEXZ's comeback 'Ride the Vibe' from a couple months back (R&B w/threads of Hip hop). A more youthful approach, but really good (love the chorus). I particularly liked the Japanese Performance video more from a performance perspective (felt a little more mature), but the official 'Ride the Vibe' MV was a fun visual ride as well (comparing them was a treat). As a follow up to your "who's your friend in the crop jacket?" when reacting to Build Up's "Flower" performance, the answer is Seunghun from CIX. Have been deep diving into CIX in the last few days (hint hint), and wow...some really good dancers -- excellent dance practices -- rap line and vocal line. I would recommend the following three MVs (and related dance practices) as a start: - CIX Movie Star M/V [suits sexy style performance, great rap tone and vocal highlights]. Really tight and energetic Dance Practice [ Seunghun has white shirt with large black Nike swoosh across it] - CIX Jungle M/V. Dance Practice has beautiful formations and transitions -[in cap, wearing wide white strip down left leg with black lines] - CIX 458 M/V. Dance Practice (!!) great details with fluidity that flip between intensity and subtlety - Seunghun in red tank]
