I don't know if anyone else experiences this, but I feel like every time I attempt something new, the most challenging period is JUST after I've started. Taking the first step is tricky, but once you do that, there's this excitement and hopefulness that carries you through for a little bit. For me, there's usually a bit of hyper-fixation and I'm super excited to try new things, learn new ways of doing it, brainstorm ideas, etc.
But then after that first rush of excitement, when the reality isn't moving as quickly as your brain is moving, it's discouraging. You start questioning yourself. You start questioning your motives. You question your abilities. That's the first major valley and it's so hard to push through!!!
Early on in any endeavour, you've already had to battle your inner demons to put yourself out there and simply begin. But this first valley feels like confirmation of those little whispers in your brain that were saying, "This is a bad idea. It isn't going to work. You aren't going to be good at this."
This is kind of where I am with this podcast right now. It isn't like things are NOT going the way I expected them to go. But my own fatigue + days getting busy with rIVerse + the way that natural high is wearing off a bit has me less motivated to share.
I am glad I know myself, though. I'm glad I've taken the time to understand myself, recognize these patterns, mentally prepare for challenges like this. How many BRILLIANT ideas never became reality in this world because people hit this first valley and then give up???
Whatever awesome, amazing, scary things you pursue in your lifetime, I hope you always give yourselves the chance to really see what you can accomplish. Ride the wave of motivation that comes with things being new and shiny... but then keep moving forward once that wave dies down. Keep moving forward through the valley, take those tough steps as you climb the next hill. Whatever you find at the peak in front of you, I'm sure you'll be glad you made it there.
You got this, friends. We all got this. Thanks for riding this wave with me!
