Distant Peaks
Added 2025-06-12 22:00:07 +0000 UTCAfter our three-day stay in Vranje, we took a bus to Skopje. Freight trains were running, but we didn’t want to cross the border illegally. Besides, the distance between the two cities was so short that it wasn’t worth waiting for a freight.
Once we arrived in Skopje, we immediately decided to do a roof to get a good overview of the city. The first building was already a hit. When we were on top, the city stretched out before us; tall brutalistic buildings, abandoned factories... We saw a lot of oppertunities and that's why we decided to stay in the city for a while. Besides, I was still sick, so moving every day was hard. My stomach felt a bit better, but my intestines were still just as bad. I hadn’t eaten anything and felt almost completely drained of energy.
We got a cheap appartment to put our stuff and also to spend the nights. I probably should've also rested inside for a few more days, but I couldn’t bring myself to do that, especially not in a new city, in a new country. Curiosity got the better of me. And even though I physically suffered for it, I don’t regret it one bit.
I hope you will enjoy this video, where we explore the urban jungle of Skopje, but also it's beautiful surroundings.
