New video!

Finally back!

After receiving my third strike on my channel, I wasn’t able to upload anything proper anymore. Luckily, strikes aren’t permanent. They expire after three months. So now, I can finally upload videos again.

Many of you are aware of the issues I have with YouTube, but a lot of my followers, just on YouTube, aren’t. I often get asked why I delete my videos, when in reality, it’s YouTube systematically removing my content. That’s why I made this video, to address and discuss the issue.

Initially, I intended this video as a critique of YouTube’s hypocrisy. But I quickly realized that it would just turn into a very negative video. I didn't want that and at the end of the day, there’s nothing we can do about the platform’s mismanagement and exploitation anyway.  So, I decided to take a different approach. Since trainhopping is too risky to post, I chose to walk an old railway route between Spain and Portugal instead. A route full of history, stunning landscapes, and impressive infrastructure. The video has a bit less action than usual, but towards the end, we still attempt to catch a train.

Some of you may have noticed that Patreon names are no longer in the credits. That’s because I no longer have a clear overview of who’s still an active Patron and who isn’t. The system Patreon uses is messy, and I had to manually check the dates for each name. Doing that over and over again just became impossible. As a result, many names in the credits belonged to people who were no longer Patrons, while new supporters often didn’t appear at all. The list just wasn’t accurate anymore. I’ve looked for a solution, but so far, I haven’t found one.

To still create a distinction between the €3 and €5 tiers, I’ve decided to start making photo reports of my trips. That way, you’ll get even more insight into my adventures.

Sorry for this change, and thanks for your understanding!

More videos are coming soon! I'm already editing the next one and will try to finish it as soon as possible. Stay tuned!

New video!

So it's ok to watch Russians and Ukraine troops killing each other but this ? Ridiculous.

john dough

I come from a land down under!!!!!

Fonzi

I'm pretty sure someone already suggested it, but maybe Nebula would be a good platform for you.

kroimon

If you ever come Down Under to Australia I'll definitely wanting to come for a ride with you !.!.!

DarBut

You should check out Stobe the Hobos old videos.

DonnieV

I'm here, so sick of the YouTube censorship machine. They'll allow softcore porn but a grown man riding a train is "way over the line!"

DonnieV

came here just now and just wanted to say tysm for making these vids

phil flames

Hi can I please ask what is the main camera/camcorder you use?

Yo could change the initial disclaimer to something like” Disclaimer: This video is for educational and entertainment purposes only. The activities shown are carefully controlled reenactments performed in a safe environment, following all applicable laws and YouTube policies. No real illegal activities were conducted, encouraged, or promoted in any way. Any resemblance to real people, places, or events is purely coincidental. Viewer discretion is advised “ and see if this can help you. I see why the previous text was written like that, and probably the vast majority of the Patreon agreed with that, but this compromise (with the goal of sharing a different approach to life and traveling) could be worth it

Isacco Frattini

I agree with you!

Isacco Frattini

GifGas (Poison) are my first two Patreons ever - im glad to my two adventure buddies, who got me thru the Konvid Klockdowns , stuck in house for months , kept me sane. A Patreon subscription is the least i could do ! ;)

StuG

Gifgas, awesome new video as always! I sent you a DM and email. Also a DM on Instagram. Even got a membership on here to support you and talk with you. Please reply when possible, as I've been trying to contact you for quite some time! Thanks 👍🏼 Awaiting your reply bro :)

maverick

wonderful video, thanks for sharing!

RoarrrTrip

Your videos feel like theyre only 30 minutes 😭 im liking the walking btw, would like to see that more maybe? Safe travels!!

sammy

100% right what you said about youtube there here for money. That's it they don't care about there audience its truly sad. But besides that great video as always stay safe and godbless gifgas.

Jakob Spencer

Watching from a hotel room in downtown Cairo, this was the perfect calm escape from the loudest, most chaotic place I've ever been to. Thank you x

jibby

So yeah. Now I’m pissed at YouTube as well. You now got one more Patreon subscriber. I was thinking about it for a long time, now I’m certain I need to show you some support. It isn’t much, but nevertheless. There is no other YouTuber that has your vibe, therefore I’m really thankful for sharing your journeys with us. Now I can finally catch up with those older videos of yours!

Raivis R

While I have proudly written "tribute" to Poison in past comments, I must remind all viewers that he is among the "most gifted" film makers around today! How it grieves me that so many of his past video offerings are now disappearing from YOUTUBE simply because of the arbitrary nature of the corporate censorship displayed and the responsive demands placed upon them by sponsors! Yes, it's UNFAIR, but it's how "the money flows & the game is played"!!! Personally, I have lived my life within the "law" of Scouting! Thus, a scout is 'loyal"! I am loyal to my friends & associates! I will remain loyal to Poison, his friends & associates, AND will follow & support him AND them on any future "platform" of presentation they choose to use!!!!! Thank you for your creativity & efforts!!!!

Peter Migliorini

A lot of action or less, it doesn't matter to me. I still enjoy watching (:

It looks like Gifgas has took his equipment and clothes to another level and it all looked military, but how do we know it was Gifgas and not his stunt double in that video?

Ian M

This was a really good relaxing, atmospheric, video to watch and camera quality was really good, he should do more like this. A guy goes camping and cooks steaks in the Fire Kitchen videos and maybe Gifgas should think about upping his cooking game.

Ian M

I am still doing my best to maintain my Globetrotter membership to help as much as possible ever since you mentioned it would help get you to Canada. Sometimes I am a little late on making the payment due to bills but I always make sure to keep the globetrotter membership. Now we need to see if you can visit Texas and other states in the USA to make videos.

Jeremy Smith

I wonder if you should try posting videos on rumble. Many people from YouTube have started to post videos on rumble

Jeremy Smith

I have just seen Gifgas make a sandwich on a old dirty bit of railway timber and I think youtube will ban him for life, as that has got to be more risky to your health than a train surfing.

Ian M

I have already commented on YouTube. That's why I'm just leaving a big 💚 here to make it very clear once again that you deserve all the support you get, and much, much, much more.

Julusch

I wouldn't mind watching more Gifgas hiking abandoned tracks and camping. Very relaxing to watch. Btw, beautiful interior on the passenger train you took right after you finished the hike.

jochem

Finished watching it, Poison. Truly a wonderful adventure. 60kms on foot with a 30kg rucksack, walking on abandoned track, is an incredible feat (with incredible feet!!!). Well done. DM sent to you in the usual way. Cheers, John

John Fisher

I hope it still works this way. Also, sent you a DM with the missing video you told me about. :)

Loboma

Ah thank you bro I really appreciate it

Lucke1511

I'll look into that, thank you!

Thomas Verschueren

Hi! I use Open railway map. On this map you can see all the tracks in the world, also the abandoned ones.

Great to see a new video! Such a shame what YT are doing to you when they allow such unmitigated crap on their platform. Keep it up. We’ll be here supporting!

ZCM

Hello man, big fan, I was just wondering how do you find these tracks? I have always wanted to do this myself but cannot find any good strategies for even finding the tracks. I live in Sweden, so I don’t know if there even is any good tracks, but what is your method? Thank you

Lucke1511

I just had to support you on patreon after I saw this video on yt. I hope you just continue to do your stuff.

For a Patron list, export the CSV from Audience > Relationship Manager > CSV and import into Excel. Then delete all rows including "Declined". If the file in Excel looks weird, go to the Data tab and select "text to columns" under data tools then select "delimited" and hit next. Then select "comma" as the delimiter and hit finish. There was a website called Patronizer in the past for easy access to these stats, but it seems to have been discontinued.

Loboma

idk if you'll see this, but there's more to youtube's actions than just the fact that advertisers don't want to associate their products with illegal activities, but it's because you're setting an example that would be very costly to yt if your channel grew much more... I suspect the real (unofficial) reason for the strike is that you promote ad-blockers at the start of most of your videos (which I agree with btw, just because you use a bit of a song doesn't mean that your entire video should be owned by that record label). So what's happening is you're making good content that attracts a lot of views (and even more if they weren't deleting your videos), those views add up to an amount of royalties that yt has to pay to the record labels for the songs that are claimed in your video, but as you probably have one of the largest percentages of ad-blocking users in your audience (there's definitely a flag/statistic alerting yt to this) then you're actually at risk of not just costing yt money on your videos directly, but also encouraging more viewers to start blocking ads, and encouraging more content creators to also use copyrighted music and just tell their audience to use ad blockers as well. You might be able to improve things a bit by removing the ad-blocker text (seems you already omitted that from this video), and finding ways to avoid copyright strikes on songs (though I understand the music is what REALLY makes your videos special, so this won't be easy to accomplish, but there are several avenues to explore here). And of course avoiding train hopping content for a little while. I think if you are able to cut back on the copyright strikes you could probably get away with train hopping content in the future once they're no longer scrutinizing your videos for any (official) reason to delete them. TL;DR: youtube doesn't like loosing money, and promoting ad blockers is the biggest way to hurt youtube's wallet, and especially combined with using copyrighted music. Your channel's relative success could start a trend of more channels promoting ad blockers, not licensing music, and costing yt more money, etc. Lay low for a bit, try to avoid copyright strikes on songs, don't blatantly promote ad blockers and train hopping, and they'll stop checking your videos so closely after a while. It's not easy, and I'm not sure it's possible to maintain the kind of amazing content you share with us on yt, but we're here for you and will gladly pay to keep watching on here if needed.

You have a way of making even simple videos like this very entertaining and a really relaxing watch. Your videos are unique and you do it differently compared to everyone else, in a sense they are much more artistic compared to others that make similar videos to you, it feels much more personal. The exploration and adventure side of your videos have always been my favourite, you don't necessarily have to be doing something illegal or supposedly "harmful to people" for it to be an interesting video in my opinion. Thanks for making these videos, they are stunning:)

zlubby

Poison, I was beginning to worry!! There are some old DM's that you might not of seen. They were sent in the usual way. Really looking forward to watching this. More to follow once I do. Cheers, John

John Fisher

Its a shame how censored youtube has gotten. How about posting a mirror of your videos just for the Patreons some where else or try un-listing them and posting the link here? Also, on Patreon you can export your "Active" members in a spreadsheet then sort, copy and past. Go into the Audience page, click Active then the Download CSV button, load that file with a spreadsheet viewer and you will be looking at your paying members and then can be sorted by Tier.

I just joined ! Happy to support each month, your Canadian journey made me fall in love with my country again. Thank you and keep it up 😎

Rob M

dont let the bastards grind you down! keep up the good work bro!

Sam Thompson

Hey man you got my support no matter what

Garrett James

I just appreciate you and be happy to support these great movies through Patreon platform. It's worth the investment. Furthermore, you could product fascinating contents like not only trainhopping but also other types of trip, imo. "Sustainability" has priority. Again, thank you for explaining your thougts!

Koki MORI

I really enjoyed the video and Im definitely looking forward to the pictures :3

Vegan.TK.Gemuese

Loved the video! Beautifully shot and the walking made a nice change from the freight hopping. Pleased to have another video from you

Joe Wakeham

I won’t tell you how to manage your internet presence, but it would make me happy to see you start to use alternative platforms rather than alter the way you naturally create your content in an effort to bow to the technocratic overlords. It would be like only riding trains you’ve paid for 😂. Happy to see you moving around outside either way!

SWEETDEATH

Man it's Good to hear something from you, I'm glad you are alright, even with no train ride it was still an amazing film you produced. I hope Rico is doing well. Greetings from a German Train operator ❤️I hope to see some amazing Trainsurfing vids this year.

Max L

I’ve been waitinggggg

Jay Miata

feels like christmas

woodland

I think I speak for the majority when I say that whilst it was appreciated when it was possible we don't require recognition of our support on your videos, we're all here to support the work of an artist we value, simple as that.

Ryan H

Lets gooooo!! New video from the king!!

Erik Torssell

I'll always support on here. Hope patreon can maintain these trips.

Drew Henson

Still active ;)

Jan Gasto

Wellcome back! As a suggestion, you should avoid dividing the videos in 3 parts. Because that way you can get 3 strikes at once. With a long video the max you will get is 1 strike (if I am interpreting correctly how that system works)

David Vidrie

Perhaps you can remove the illegal parts from the youtube uploads and upload the full videos on vimeo? vaga vagabond has been removing the train hopping from the youtube version of his videos and I don't think i've seen any get taken down since then. Obviously a less than ideal solution but it could keep the channel up

Kiley Orlando

Welcome back mate!

Projekt95

I’ve been waiting on this for so long. thank you gifgas we missed you
