As the priest laid the holy relic upon the bleeding member of his flock, a soothing light enveloped them. Wounds stitched together as their pained expression relaxed, when a sudden slam caused the man’s head to swing toward the door of the church. A group of armed thugs trudged across the sanctuary, flames crackling behind them as the town burned.

“These people aren’t worth your life, priest. Get a move on and we’ll let you live.” The man’s eyes flicked to the holy man’s arm, which was replaced by a gilded reliquary, “So long as you give us that bit of gold.”

The priest felt the fire of retribution coursing through his veins. The glow returned to the relic, this time forming a shimmering blade of divine light. In a soft voice, the priest proclaimed, “I consider myself a healer, but…”
