Lazy Post: Dead Mermaids, sketches, New Playlist, Milicent Patrick
Added 2024-04-29 23:46:32 +0000 UTCI took rare form this weekend and went on a vacation. It was my brother's Batchelor party. I'm personally not a big vacation guy. But I think I came up with some good sketches for potential paintings.

I'm really tired.
But today I was editing the reels for the Dark Art Society podcast, and I did one about Milicent Patrick.
It made me curious so I looked at her wikipedia page.
She's known for designing the creature from the 1950's film "Creature from the Black Lagoon."
Apparently before that, she was one of the first female animators for Disney.
Then she was the first woman to get a job in the make up and special effects department at Universal.
She designed the creature from the Black Lagoon monster and she was sent around to promote the film.
They called her "The Beauty who Built the Beast."
Bud Westmore was the head of the make up department at Universal and didn't like that she was getting all this attention and credit, so he got her fired and took the credit for her creature.
That's a crappy note to end on.
But I'm really tired.
