Album Cover Underpainting//Friends who are good at stuff you aren't

Starting the underpainting of the album cover today. I had all these fake flowers laying around from a photoshoot I did and I decided to decorate my whole work space with them. I gotta say it kind of defuses the light and gives it a more magical atmosphere. I don't know they'll probably get in the way and annoy me. But right now while they're new, I like them.

My friend Jake called me yesterday. I mentioned that.

Jake is one of those people where interesting and funny things always happen to him or around him. And he always knows what to do or say in those situations. He finds himself in the right place at the right time and he's sharp.

For example, we went and saw the movie Bad Grandpa in the theater. Kendrick Lamar was in the row behind us with some of his friends.

We're both Kendrick Lamar fan, and if it was just me I wouldn't have said anything. Honestly, most people shouldn't say anything in these situations.

Unless you're Jake. If you're Jake you yell out "Thanks for bringing hip hop back to LA, Kendrick!" and Kendrick shoots you some duces.

Kendrick just kept walking, but Jake has had a lot of success in his career as a photographer because of this likable extroversion he has.

He didn't have a camera when we saw Kendrick, but there have been many other times where he's done something similar and gotten a job or a friendship out of it.

I don't have that ability at all. I overthink it. I get shy.

It's like how different artists have different strengths. Some people are good with wild brush strokes, some get really tight with details. You gotta admire the people that are good at what you aren't good at.

I'm not good at talking to strangers on the spot. Jake is a master at talking to strangers on the spot.

I like having friend's who are good at what I'm not good at.
