Here's a little tip: if your painting or sculpture looks off to you, look at it in a mirror. Or take a picture on your phone then mirror the image. It will instantly show you what's off. especially with proportion and symmetry.
I can't remember who came up with the term "the magic mirror of truth." But it's an accurate description.
I checked the symmetry again and it's still not exact. But I'm not going for perfect symmetry and I think It looks better.
I added the gashes.
I'll probably let it sit for a little and make some smaller changes. But I'm basically done.
Remember to submit your masks before Feb. 2nd!
I couldn't think of anything to write today. Usual stuff from recently going on. Working on the videos, working on the art.
So here's an older watercolor sketch from a sketchbook.

This is from December of 2019.
In pencil on the top it says "I allegedly cut someone."
I used to drink at this bar. There was a guy who would hang out there who went by "Sleepy."
He was a real tall lanky dude, bald head, face tattoos, Dodger's jacket. He was always eating Takis. I'm trying to beat around the bush a little here. Sleepy was a gang banger.
He was kind of the unofficial "security" of the bar at one point.
By that, I mean that he would get some free drinks from the bar and in exchange he would throw people out for getting out of control. The bar had also been robbed before after closing so the owner wanted someone there to help prevent that from happening again.
But Sleepy wouldn't just kick people out for getting too belligerent. He started kicking out people just because he just didn't like them. Not just because he didn't like them, but because they were affiliated with other gangs.
As this type of thing goes, these people wouldn't want to just leave. And as far as the bar was concerned, simply being in the bar wasn't a reason for Sleepy to kick them out. And no doubt, some of these other gang members knew that just being there would piss of Sleepy and that he wouldn't do anything about it. Which in turn, would make Sleepy even more mad.
One time I was at the bar and all of a sudden Sleepy was kicking some guy under the bar right next to me. But pretty much as soon as I realized it, Sleepy was gone and the guy was just laying there.
Sudden violence with Sleepy.
Anyway. One day he was just hanging out in the parking lot not going in the bar. I went out to smoke and asked him what he was doing out there. He told me he wasn't allowed in the bar because he "Allegedly cut someone."
There was an incident at the pool tables where sleepy had pulled out a butterfly knife and stabbed someone. I wasn't there when it happened. But here were at least 10 witnesses and surveillance cameras had seen it.
That's how he phrased it though. "I allegedly cut someone." I thought that was interesting.
The strangest thing about Sleepy to me was that he was friendly. I never felt intimidated or scared of him. I never saw him get angry or talk about who had beef with. There would just be a sudden burst of violence.
Have Fun
