Full painting timelapse of "The Cave"
Added 2024-01-19 02:07:28 +0000 UTCUsually I like to edit these things down to 1-2 minutes. And I'll still do that for the social media and what not. But I wanted to show the Choir the whole thing.
I filmed everything with my regular camera and I had my phone set up behind that recording timelapses.
My phone compresses timelapses into 20-30 second videos. If I record for 10 minutes or 4 hours the video will be 20-30 seconds.
I typically end up with 5-7 minutes of timelapse footage from my phone. For this painting I ended up with 20 minutes.
I'm figuring this is like 60-80 hours compressed in to 20 minutes.
The music is a stretched out version of the 1-2 minute song for the shorter video I'm going to make.

Today at school we painted a gumball machine. The kid's weren't very excited about it. I wasn't very excited about it.
Kids don't understand that teaching is just work for teachers. When I was a kid my teacher was giving us a talk about how sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do. She said "I didn't want to go to work today, but I did it anyways." And I remember thinking "I wonder where she works?"
I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do for masks. I did some sketches last night for a new painting that might tie in with masks.
I started watching Succession. I've tried to get in to it twice. The first time I couldn't make it through the first episode. The second time took me 2 sittings to get through the first episode and I never started the second one. This time I decided to make it to episode 5 and if I'm still not interested I'll abandon it forever. It took. I'm on episode 6 or 7.
Right now I'm hungry and so is my cat. She's yelling at me from the other room because I got home and started typing this rather than feeding her.
I'm gonna go feed her.

I think of the entities leaving the cave like ice and water. ice can only be ice under certain conditions. Once ice is out of those conditions it becomes water. That is what I mean by they cannot leave the cave. To leave the cave would be to change them into something else. Like ice turning to water.

2024-01-21 20:46:47 +0000 UTCYeah, textures! Maybe the entities really can't, maybe it's only fear telling them they can't to keep them safe. This painting causes so many questions in my mind, but no answers. ;-) Did you want to trigger a specific emotion or leave it completely open?

2024-01-20 14:52:48 +0000 UTCI'd say my favorite part of the process was doing all the textures. Because it really started coming alive then. The thing about these entities in this painting is that I don't think they could exist outside the cave.

Not just because I'm curious, but also because I wish the creatures one day dare to explore the world outside the cave. ;-) Thanks for sharing!
