Common Foolishness

Light, Shadow, Form

Making progress. Still sticking with the process as stated in the last post. At this point I'm just trying to get the values right. I started on the background a little bit. I'll probably try and finish the background and then go in for details and textures.

I don't know if you all want to see daily progress updates of this painting. I'm going to be pretty much exclusively working on it for 10 more days. At least.

I could probably find old pieces of art to post about. Or something like that.

I don't know if you'll get bored with seeing this piece every day.

I have some footage of other paintings that I could make Timelapse's out of. But I just haven't been able to get the time.

Happy January 6th Everybody

Here's a section I liked in a book I'm reading.

"Take no pleasure in the miracles of the many: they are nothing but quackery. The crowd admires common foolishness and places no stock in excellent counsel."

I'm going to an openhing at the Hive tonight. It's their annual tarot card show. Every year they have a tarot card show where artists are assigned a tarot card to do an interpretation of. Then the next year the gallery prints decks of the cards with the art from the show.

I didn't participate this year. Last year I was assigned "the Moon." I think it's one of my strongest paintings.

I'm going to get a deck tonight. I can't wait to see my card. I'll share a picture.

Today I worked on this painting for a long stretch. I listened to drone music, a table reading of an episode of Breaking Bad, and some of this new Rene Magritte biography I've been listening to.

Magritte was an interesting character. More on him later.

I ate some soup. I started eating chips. I couldn't stop eating the chips.

I practiced playing this Chopin prelude on  guitar. It's difficult but I'm making progress on it.

Guitar has become my main way of taking my mind off of painting. It helps me come back to it with fresh eyes.

I am trying to write the Sort of Choir email. I try to strike a balance of encouraging people to join the Choir, but making the email itself interesting to read. I have to format all the images I use in the email. It's time consuming.

I noticed two gray hairs in my beard.

I don't know what I'm going to wear tonight.

I'm tired.

Have Fun

Goodnight Sweeties

Thank you Mallory. I will take care of my flesh prison.

I’m happy to see how this painting progresses

A Very Obstinate Beaver

I hope I speak for all the creatures of the Choir when I say: while you're trying to make this big deadline, don't worry too much about creating new crazy stuff for us. Give us updates if you have time, take care of your flesh prison, and finish your painting 🖤
