Exploring the cave symbols

This is for that larger cave painting that I'm doing for a show in February.
The cave symbolizes imagination and the womb of creation. At least I've come to see it that way as I've been doing these studies for this painting.
I've left some space under all the thumbnails so that I can write down little things that come to mind. I wrote down part of that Max Ernst quote about seeing the world with one open and one eye closed.
Happy December 22nd everybody
I'm about to head to work.
Most of the students are out of town this week. I think I only have 2 students.
We'll paint Santa Claus. When there are fewer students we finish faster and they get time to paint whatever they want.
I like that because I get to see their creativity.
There's this one student who has always driven me crazy. She talks too much. Doesn't listen. She's the only student who's parents I've had to have a conversation with about their bad behavior.
But last week she was the only student. We finished early. A Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer painting. She had an hour to paint whatever she wanted. And she painted this elaborate castle thing. I helped her with it.
But anyways, the point is, for the first time since meeting this girl I realized that she truly is super creative. I felt like I was just hanging out with a weird art kid. The kind of weird art kid that I've surrounded myself with for the past 10-15 years. The type of weird art kid that I belong with.
I would have been poorly behaved too at her age. And my teacher would be talking to my parents about my behavior. And look at me now. Drawing bizarre cave entities and thinking about their symbolism.
She could make a great artist one day if she stays interested in painting. And if some mean adult doesn't get in her head about it.
It's still raining here.
My cat is licking her paw.
I just realized I'm not even dressed yet.
