This piece was inspired by the death of a plant. I had a Venus fly trap that I nurtured and kept alive for almost 2 years. which is a long time for one of those things. When it started dying and I could tell I couldn't save it I got ridiculously sad about it. I guess it's a good sign that I'm grieving over a plant and not a human or an animal. But either way, the emotions were real and I hope they come across in this painting, "Mourning."
Here's an image of the painting. I also found a great frame for her. I just varnished her this morning so after she dries and I put her in her frame she'll hit the secret choir shop.
