My favorite painting from 2015
Added 2023-09-10 19:00:03 +0000 UTCThis is the piece I'm the most proud of from 2015. Beautiful Nightmare. It's a combination of spray paint, paint markers, and acrylic. It was a real breakthrough for me in translating my pen and ink work to canvas.
I was teaching myself how to draw and paint at this point.
I liked the feeling of pen and ink, the images seemed to emerge from just scribbling on paper with them. But I couldn't translate that to painting on canvas.
When I'd try to create with paint and brushes the way that I did with pens, they'd come out more abstract and expressionistic, usually portraits, like this one.

It was more atmospheric. And I like the mood. But it was different than my psychedelic/surreal automatic drawings.
At this time I also started experimenting with watercolors.
