Hey All!

That was a lot of fun, she is such an impressive singer. Very interesting vibrato! This is Melody singing 'Esa Diva.'

Watch my first impression above and then join me for my 2nd pass deep dive analysis over on YT here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK8oBuUv2-k

Let me know what you think!

Cheers,

Tim

Itโ€™s the show we love to hate ๐Ÿ˜

Hi Tim๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you for your reaction. I love Eurovision - the bad and the magical. Itโ€™s sometimes so bad itโ€™s good ๐Ÿ˜… Itโ€™s party and politics wrapped up in one, and you might argue these are two things that shouldnโ€™t be mixed.. but it is the way it is. So yes - itโ€™s also very common that the artists bring some of their culture/music into their performances. Some more than others. Stage shows and production are usually really stunning. You might have gotten some taste of it through your videos. As for the genre choice i find that it depends on the year. Some years are more ballad heavy others edm, but you will usually get I all. From growling to opeara to ballads and folk music. Eurovision was founded in Switzerland in 1956 with the aim of fostering good relations between countries that just a decade earlier were intent on mutual obliteration. Back in 1998 a transgender called Dana International (from Israelโ€ฆyesโ€ฆnot a part of Europe) won. It was not without controversy and was heavily attacked from the conservative countries incl Israel. 2014 was won by another transgender artist from Austria, Conchita Wurst. Letโ€™s just say - you can find everything in Eurovision. (1980 Norwayโ€™s contribution was a song called Saamid รฆdnan and it was about the indigenous people in Norway - the saami people - and they did the ยซjoikยป) Phewโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ
