Plastic Spouse Interrogation Update (some spoilers)

Well everyone I’m posting again to let you know what I’ve been up to. I know I said I would try not to post more about the game because I did not want to reveal anymore than I already have, but I think it’d be OK to show just a bit more because I did a lot of work in Blender that I think came out looking good. I will give a bit of context to what exactly you are looking at, plus my thoughts on what I hope to accomplish with the game.

I know I haven’t posted in a bit but I promise its just because I’ve been super busy with game development. It’s hard to balance between posting here and everywhere else making content and also like, just working on the actual games. Anyway, back to Plastic Spouse Interrogation.

In a certain sense I wanted to simulate the activities of an organism and have them be a part of the gameplay. A sort of life simulation that you have to engage with in order to make progress in the game. Originally this was just inflating and deflating a sort of lung or air bladder that was necessary for different operations in the game. There is a mouth/stomach/digestive system combo which is necessary for getting energy and thus carrying out some more resource intensive functions. Synthesizing certain chemicals in the body will also require consuming a good amount of nutrient dense foods…

The inflation of the air bladder is done by just pressing the left and right mouse buttons. It’s pretty simple, in and out, it parallels the respiration we all do. There’s a new function I added though that is a little more akin to something like circulating blood through the body. It’s not blood though. It’s a neural plasma that you will be routing through a body. You do this by continually moving your mouse, cycling the fluid through organs which filter the plasma and then redirect it back into systems where its needed, bringing you back to a sort of equilibrium.

Many of the systems in the game have labels and also many of them bear some resemblance to what is contained in a human body. But they are different! Meaningfully different. And only in discovering their difference, exploring what sort of options you have available, will you begin to make the best of your situation. The character you play as starts the game with no memories of the past. You have to learn everything and pretty quickly because you are in a tense situation that could lead to your disposal or worse.

Your interrogators are very interested in what you might know and what you might have done, but they are also interested in you yourself, how you are constructed, how you operate, what you think.

In the video above a mimeobiotic communication device brought by the interrogators has been introduced to you so that you might better answer their questions. If there is a goal to the game it is that you are trying not to be incriminated. However, perhaps there is good cause for you to try and ingratiate yourself to your interrogators, to try and draw information out of them in the same way they are trying to draw information out of you...

This is tangential to my game development but recently I paid to have the soundtrack to Water Womb World and Growing My Grandpa! Distributed onto streaming services like Spotify, Youtube music, etc etc. People have been asking for that for a long time! This may or may not be relevant to you but Spotify is very popular so I thought I would include this in my post.

Last but not least, is there any interest in turning on the community functions of Patreon? Like I think they let you have some sort of social media for your page but like I don’t know how many of you are interested in that. I thought it might be an alternative if you don’t want to join the discord though. Please let me know your thoughts.
