GMG!: Still debugging! But the end is near
Added 2022-02-18 08:27:51 +0000 UTCAt this point the lines of code for the .gml (gamemaker’s scripting language) files is right about 21,000. It’s by far my biggest project that I have worked on both in terms of scope/assets and now I guess the actual programming that goes with game development. My previous projects were all well below 10,000. I timed myself doing a simulated playthrough of the game’s prologue (there are five weeks in the game, the first week is sort of setting the scene) and it took me about 11 or 12 minutes, which is already longer than most of the games I have made lol.
Anyway, debugging is going well. I may have a playable beta ready soon, something that works but might have a few audio bugs. A sizeable portion of my time has been working on audio bugs/music triggers. Game Maker Studio 2 doesn’t have the most robust tools for working with audio and it’s caused me a good deal of pain figuring out why something isn’t playing, or why it was playing but playing super quietly etc. etc.
Oh! and there’s more configuration options this time around, there’s 6 cursors to chose from for the purposes of handedness and/or readability against different backgrounds

there's also different degrees of shader intensity. i might make the shader a little more adjustable than that but also its nice to have a middle ground between on and off, I think.

most of these other gifs are from the prologue, i don’t really want to get into much beyond that but i think you all will be pleasantly surprised with much of the game.

Thanks so much for your patience and continued support, it really does mean so much to me that you all have faith in me and my games. As always,

2022-02-18 08:44:38 +0000 UTChi Sharko lol i was just about to respond to your other post! it's sort of open ended as to how long it will be i guess because there are 2 endings and a lot of stuff to explore. i have not yet done a full simulated playthrough of it myself, at the moment i am just trying to get things to work. I think if you rush things/know what to do/what secrets there are in the game you might be able to beat it in about 30-40 minutes though.
