Hope you guys enjoy it more on further listens! It definitely was one that kept getting better after each rotation. And now it's easily in my AOTY discussion, and top 5 this year! I gotta fight against what Lu said about his lyricism being fluff to make it seem better than it is. He does an amazing job painting both the dark nature of the environment he's in and how people push forward in different, maybe questionable ways. Looks a lot through the angle of the bittersweet moments that occur with family throughout that, as well as overall conscious discussion about unfair systems creating this environment. And he does it all in a little unique manner, whether it's his overall more poetic approach, or his vocabulary choices, or writing style. That comment surprised me since this is clearly an album y'all (and myself, and others) don't fully understand after one listen. And that dismissive nature is usually more common to newer listeners that don't listen to any abstract or poetic rap, which is not true for Lu obviously. I've heard it a lot before with artists like Aesop Roch and Lupe, and it's usually ignorantly said.
