Rutela has been on my list of characters since before I even started on DA, but somehow, I've never actually gotten around to drawing her. Finally being able to draw a character I've been wanting to for twelve years is certainly one of the personal perks of doing these.
I've decided to start switching things up here and there in terms of how these monthly images are put together. I originally established that they would always roughly be similar in composition, being a knees-up view of the character (usually) fully naked, but I can't let things stagnate that much, now can I? While it's a small change in the grand scheme, I'll be doing different views here and there if it suits the character.
Now, Rutela is an interesting one, since she's only in a handful of cutscenes in Twilight Princess, and... well, she's already dead when you meet her ghost. As such, I had to take a number of liberties and guess certain aspects of her design without having access to her actual model and palette. It's also difficult to remove clothing when it's not entirely clear what's fabric and what's frills, fins or what have you, so I tried to find a good balance of removing and keeping certain things, as well as improvising what wasn't entirely clear in the references I found.
While we're at it, take a peek at my DA page soon. I'm going to have a question presented on there that is most likely relevant to your interests! Meanwhile, enjoy some fish momma.
