Frosty 1.0.6.0 Compatibility
Added 2021-05-12 20:21:00 +0000 UTCAs some of you may already know a new alpha version of Frosty has been released which includes a bunch of QOL improvements for modders and mod users, if you haven't downloaded it yet you can join the official Battlefront Modding discord server from where you can find download links for the updated mod manager you would need for any mod that is exported using Frosty 1.0.6.0
These changes will make mod development easier and with less bugs, some of the new features of this new version are:
- Bundle management (Plugin by Mophead)
This will most likely get rid of any invisibility bugs on IAO and will make add-ons a lot easier and less conflicting with each other. This also makes gameplay mods very easy to do, so you may be seeing me doing some in the future. - Native sound importing
The new version of Frosty includes a new sound editor that will make sound mods a lot easier to do as it won't require any external tools to do so. - Localization merging
This will allow you to use multiple text mods together, which can allow for fully modular hero replacements and more complex text integrations between mods.
These features will definitely benefit the experience of both modders and mod users although for the time being the new frosty version doesn't work with FrostyFix, which means EA Desktop users may have issues to get it working.
Therefore you should decide if the next updates should be made using Frosty 1.0.6.0 or should stay in Frosty 1.0.5.9 for wider compatibility, keep in mind FrostyFix can be updated to get support for the new Frosty version, and taking advantage of the new features will benefit mod development in the long term.
